The Rainforest covers 1.4 billion acres of land
The Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests

Located on the west side of South America.
Runs from north to south across the entire length of the continent
The Andes are the largest mountain system in the world

Amazon RiverThe Amazon River is
used for fishing, drinking water, and as a transportation corridor.
The second longest river in the world.
There are no bridges that cross the river.

The Panama Canal is a important waterway for world trade.
The Panama Canal connects the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, using a system of locks.
Spain first thought about building a canal
France started building the Panama Canal
In 1914 The United States finished the Panama Canal
