Where Were You During the Great Depression & World War II?

The Baton Rouge Room Archives of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library announces the launch of a new Oral History Project. “Where Were You…?” seeks to document the experiences of different generations in Baton Rouge.

The first phase of the project will document stories of World War II and the Great Depression. If you or someone you know lived through the Depression or participated in the War effort either at home or abroad, you can fill out a pre-interview form (found at the reference and circulation desk at any library or online) and the archivist will contact you to arrange an interview.

For more information, call (225) 389-4960.Locate Lost History!

Time capsules have been used for many years, especially in connection with significant events such as new buildings or major anniversaries of important events to document a moment in time. Unfortunately, sometimes these capsules’ locations become LOST in time.

The Library is asking anyone with information about time capsules created and buried in East Baton Rouge Parish to contact Archivist Melissa Eastin at (225) 389-4960 or e-mail [email protected].

Storytime gives children an excellent introduction to books and the library, increases their attention spans, and develops their social skills by involving them in stories, poetry, and songs. The Children’s Services staff hopes Storytime will be an enjoyable experience for each child, leading to a lifelong love of books and reading. You are always welcome to attend Storytime with your child. We offer seven different Storytime formats. Since children develop at different rates, you may talk with one of our library staff members to place your child in a younger or older group.

For more information, call your local library. Organized groups must reserve a date and time other than those listed below.
