Soundtrack Remix Kunta Kinte While the next two slides demonstrate the kinds of information to include, based on the rubric I provided, I would not have earned a very good grade. description

Character Theme – Kunta Kinte Theme- loneliness and loss of identity Slave traders kidnapped Kunta Kinte from his home in Africa and brought him to the United States. He lost his family and all that was familiar to him in this journey. He even lost is name. He was forced to accepted the new identity of Toby. He fought against this change and was punished severely, even losing his foot. Lately, performed by Lera Lynn, illustrates this loss of identity. When she sings that she does not recognize herself, I believe that as Kunta Kinte spent more time in the US he had feelings of loss, confusion and a lack of knowing himself and his place his new and unfamiliar surroundings. Kunta Kinte most likely experienced a crisis of identity. Is he Kunta or is he Toby? Will he ever accept being Toby? Song lyrics- Lately by Lera Lynn Lately I'm not feeling like myself When I look into the glass I see someone else I hardly recognize this face I wear When I stare into her eyes I see no one there Lately I'm not feeling like myself Lately I've been losing all my time All that mattered to me slipped my mind Every time I hit another town Strangers appear to lock me down Lately I've been losing all my time

Bell helped Kunta Kinte learn to walk again, provided him with the necessary implents to walk again and arranged for him to have the position as Dr. Reynolds driver. Bells kindness and graciousness toward Kunta Kinte eventually won his heart. Bell waited for Kunta Kinte to realize that he loved her too and this process took at least 4 years. The song I Found You, by the Alabama Shakes, details a persons search for love that has to overcome obstacles and time in order to be realized. Bells love for Kunta Kinte and his love in return follows as similar path. I Found You Alabama Shakes This isn't sometimes yeah, its for always if I'm gonna love you wit all of my heart and if there is no more time, this always remains. even as the world spins itself apart... cuz i remember them days i waited so patiently for god to bring someone who's gonna be good to me and then he blessed my soul well, i traveled a long way and it took a long time to find you... but i finally found you...
