What’s that Sound? How does sound actually work and where can I find different sounds? Open Sound Uncovered. On the first page you will see the menu. You will be using 4 areas today and exploring the others when you have finished. 1.Go to the Eyes Vs Ears and see what is happening. On your worksheet answer these questions: a. In your own words what do you think is really happening? b. Stand up. Walk to the other side of the room. Your partner should be at the table and silently say the words (no sound only your mouth) say “Island View” What does your partner think you are saying? c. Tell us which was the easiest word to work out? Why do you think this is? 2. Now go to “ How old are your ears?” Can you hear all the sounds? Why? 3.Now go to Sounds like? On the worksheet, fold your paper in half. Take it in turns to guess what the peple are talking about. Without cheating (your partner should be the referee) you need to write the names of the things. 4.Now, we’re going to use: ‘ The Beat Goes On. And Off. And On.” Explain, what happens when you get the numbers to 400 and 401. You can see the sound. What do you really think is going on? Go and explore. 5. Find.... The tiny sounds. The really small ones. What is Misophonia? 6. Can you talk and listen at the same time? 7. What else have you learned?
