I have mainly used notes from the middle of the keyboard to give it a more balanced sound but also used some lower, darker tunes in order to fit it in between. I also used wind to break up the two sequences which varied in tone and contrast. I like the effect that I have created overall and I think that I could improve it by creating different sequences that would have a better flow and would have a better contrast in comparison to each other.

Sound Generating:

The following exercise allowed me to create my own sounds using the Reaper software, in which I have used several, already made instruments and played

them out on a virtual keyboard and then arrange them based on how I want it. This allowed me to learn how to create my own sounds as well as

experiment what works best and what does not.

1st Sound Generating

In this 1st sound generation I have focused on

creating mainly lower pitched, darker electronic

notes as well as incorporate some drums to

strengthen the effect of them. I have mainly used

notes from the middle of the keyboard to give it a

more balanced sound but also used some lower,

darker tunes in order to fit it in between. I also

used wind to break up the two sequences which

varied in tone and contrast. I like the effect that I

have created overall and I think that I could

improve it by creating different sequences that

would have a better flow and would have a better

contrast in comparison to each other.

2nd Sound Generating:

For my 2nd sound generation, I have decided to

go for much messier approach, just stick a bunch

of random noises together with extreme

differences and see what happens. I have mixed

together 5 different instruments that each give

out a different sound, one sounds very robotic

while the other one sounds very disco like. I have

tried to vary the sounds as much as possible to

get the best contrast possible, even though they

might not compose together well. I think I did a

pretty good job on this one when it comes to

actually achieving the objective which I’ve set for

myself, to create a short soundtrack that sounds

very weird to some extent. I could improve this

by adding more fading effect to make the

transitions not so sudden and also by adding

more tracks into the mix.

3rd Sound Generating:

In this sound generation, I have gone for a variant

of high and low pitch sound effects to see how

effective the differences would become when

combined together. I made this one much

shorter due to me wanting to see if I can do

something that is as effective as the previous

ones but much shorter. I have used the fading

effects in order to make the sounds not so

sudden but instead more gentle.

4th Sound Generating:

In this last sound generating, I have used a piece

of VST that is called Altair Pro 4 and used it to

generate a bunch of interesting and weird sounds

that naturally come out from the piece of addon

whenever you add a note to be played out. I

combined it with 2 other pieces as well as some

fade ins to see what the effects would be.
