Sound PrintsDIY Carbon PaperYou can use different weights of pencils to create your own carbon paper. HB pencils work well, but if you can find a softer pencil, the print will be even clearer. Below you can see the difference between a selection of different pencil types:
HB 2B 4B Charcoal
When creating your DIY carbon paper, use the edge of the pencil to shade in a large area quickly.
Do two layers of shading in perpendicular directions to create a dense and even covering.

Extension activity:
• Try drawing different pieces of music - listen to the character of the music and think about how to recreate the mood of the music through drawing. You can find your own, or try one of the pieces listed below.
• Try drawing sounds without music - sit peacefully and listen carefully for any sounds you might hear. You might hear birds singing, people talking or dogs barking; there might be a washing machine on in another room or you could even draw your own breathing - you might be surprised at how many different noises are happening all around you!
