Sorbus commixta Dodong
Japanese Rowan
Sorbus commixta Dodong, also known as Sorbus
commixta Olympic Flame is native of South Korea
and Japan. It was initially brought to the UK during
the 1880s and has become a popular cultivar ever
since.
A mass of creamy white flowers appear in spring
sat amongst bronze - green pinnate leaves, fol-
lowed by an abundance of glossy orange / red ber-
ries which look especially exquisite on the back-
ground of lush green foliage. The leaves then turn
to a fantastic fiery orange - red inspiring the name
‘Olympic Flame.’
The Sorbus commixta Dodong maintains a neat,
slender profile making it a suitable tree for ave-
nues, street planting and any sized garden.
