1 SOP FOR WIMAX CPE INSTALLATION

1.1. SERVICE PROVISIONING PROCESS • Zain will provide approved list of customers (Nominees for FUT) to Service Delivery &

Support (Field Engineering) team for CPE installations.

1.2. CONDUCTING THE SITE INSTALLATION • Help Desk will schedule and assign the tasks to the Field Engineers to perform

installation.

1.2.1. Equipment required for Installation

• Field Engineer will ensure to perform site installation must have the following items with him.

o Installation Permission (verbal or written) from building owner or building

management. o Base stations Sites address data list/ Map o WiMAX Indoor/Outdoor CPEs /ATA o STP/UTP cables box o 1.5 -2 meter pole with brackets and bolts o Toolkit for installation of pole and cabling o Cable ties, Masking tape o Power Extension o Laptop o Cell Phone o Measuring Tape

1.2.2. Role of Field Engineer

• Field Engineer will inform the customer regarding service provisioning and will get the appointment to visit the site. In addition, on getting readiness from each and every prerequisite, Field Engineer will move to Customer Premises.

• Field Engineer will find out the requirement of CPE installation in customer location for Indoor or Outdoor from Remady Work Order

• Field Engineer to visit either roof top or for suitable location indoor from where RedMAX SU-O or SU-I CPE receives the optimum signal strength.

• Field Engineer to visit the windows locations for suitable location from where RedMAX SU-I CPE receives the optimum signal strength.

• Field Engineer will ensure the direction of CPE towards Base Station as per provided list of Sites and map.

• Field Engineer will noted preferred and alternative mounting option for RedMAX SU-O. On Preferred location / direction of SU-O, with help of audio tuning tool, will be finalized.

• He will also observe the obstacles in the immediate environment where REDMAX SU-O will be placed mount.

• When the best point is found, the Field Engineer will mark that point with chalk for installation.

• After SU-O/SU-I and ATA are finalized, Field Engineer will measure the length of Ethernet cable segment.

• Field Engineer will draw the proposed cable layout plan (Ethernet). o REDMAX SU-O Mounting Locations

o REDMAX SU-I mounting locations o Ethernet/Drop Wire Cable Route o Ethernet/Drop Wire Cable entrance point in building. o Visible views of BSU if Possible. o Any Temperature Introducer, Noise/Interference Introducer elements.

1.2.3. Things to be remembered

Field Engineer must keep the following things in mind during the installation: • Distance between SU-O/SU-I and computer/ ATA/ Router must not be more

than 100 meters. • Field Engineer pointing the antenna in the exact direction of BSU as given sites

list by Zain with map and make sure Cpe is register with correct BSU. • Once CPE in scanning mode don’t be align CPE and wait at least 20 min. • In order to receive better signal then alignment should be performed. Two

options are available during alignment either by using “mon” command or by activating the buzzer.

• after contacting the RMS engineer for registration process then the installer should fix the SU-O and go inside the customer to start proceed with the data & Voice test

2. SOP FOR SU-O INSTALLATION

2.1. PROCEDURE • Field Engineer will get the Work Order and in the work order zain mention about the

outdoor installation. • Field Engineer will get the SU-O from the warehouse as per Work order. • Identify all the hardware components and tools are needed to install SU-O and laying

cables.( mast pipe , bolts brackets ,cables ,tapes & toolkit) .

2.2. PHYSICAL INSTALLING OF REDLINE SU-O

Select the best location on rooftop for the installation of mounting rode. • Selection of mounting rode will be between 1.5meter to 2 meters vary location to

location • SU-O should be implemented in a way to directed positioned to the base station.

• Field Engineer will properly use weatherproof tape the base cover of the REDMAX SU-O to connect Ethernet cable (See Figure 3 ) for refrence

• Terminate the STP Ethernet cable with an RJ-45 connector, and connect the cable to the SU-O. o Plug one end of a CAT 5 Ethernet cable into the SU-O RJ-45 jack and plug the

other end into POE.

o From POE Ethernet cable will be connected power supply as well as computer.

o Please follow detailed instruction to plug Ethernet cable into computer and power supply as shown in the figure 4

Power Adapter is used to provide the PoE. Ensure one end of Ethernet cable is plugged into the Ethernet port of Radio.” and other one should be plugged into computer or ATA. . (See Figure 5)

• Field Engineer will do physical installation of SU-O and cable lay plan (indoor & outdoor).

• Field Engineer will lay the cable properly and be assured of: o There is no bend in the cable o There is no sag in the cable. o There is no breakage in the cable. o There is no power cable nearby Ethernet cable. o Cable is proper tied with cable ties and clamps

• Once REDMAX SU-O installed, Field Engineer will align the SU-O with the help of GPS & Audio alignment buzzer in SU-O

• After the proper physical installation of the SU-O and the proper direction of the SU-O

towards the base station, the field engineer should power on the SU-O and keep the SU-O to scan the band in order to find the better receive signal.

2.3. WIMAX CPE SU-O CONFIGURATION

The field engineers can monitor the scanning process by accessing the SU-O and

using the following commands:

o telnet default IP address of the SU-O o user: admin o Password: admin o Show eventLog paged (with this command, the installers can follow the scan

process along with the SU-O) o After period of time, the SU-O will select the frequency and now is the alignment

process. o Before the alignment process, the installers can use the “mon” command to check

the receive signal level and try to improve it by alignment. o The installer can use set boardConfig Buzzer 1in order to support them during the

alignment. o The installer will start the alignment and stop after receiving continuously buzzering

voice from the SU-O o Deactivate the buzzer by using the command: set boardConfig Buzzer 0.

• After alignment and registration of SU-O, Field Engineer will lock the SU-O permanently.

• Field Engineer will integrate SU-O/ATA with internal customer’s network if required.

• Connectivity process between the POE and Tilgin access device. The data port at the POE should be connected to the WAN port of Tilgin device. The customer PC should be connected to one of the three Ethernet port at the Tilgin device and the IP voice device will be connected to another Ethernet port. Analogue voice device can be connected to one of the analogue ports at the Tilgin device.

(mon) Monitor command will use to allign the CPE for the best signal strength and lock the CPE minimum value maximum during allignment Note: These above commands are use for the SU-I as well

3. SOP FOR SU-I INSTALLATION

3.1. PROCEDURE • Field Engineer will get the Work Order if its mention the indoor installation. • Field Engineer will get the SU-I from the store as per Work order. • Identify all the hardware components and tools are needed to install SU-I and laying

cables: • Unpack subscriber components from the shipping box. • Connect the power adapter to the SU-I • Test for the strongest signal strength: Vertical orientation

• The installer can use the above commands for the scanning process

• Determine final location for installation. • Choose mounting option (desk, window, or wall mount).

• Connect subscriber to the local network device (PC, router, etc).

• The SU-I will be connected to the access Tilgin device according to the above SU-O

configuration •

3.2. CONNECT POWER TO SUBSCRIBER • Connect the power adapter to the DC IN port (bottom of subscriber). • Connect the power adapter to a 110-240 VAC (nominal) grounded receptacle. Then

subscriber is not equipped with a power switch and activates immediately when connected to a power source.

Search Mode When powered-on, a walking LED pattern is displayed while the SU-I searches for WiMAX base stations. When the search is completed, the walking pattern stops and the LEDs indicate signal strength.

Signal Strength When the SU-I has locked-in on its home base station, the WAN signal LEDs indicate signal strength. All LEDs are lit to indicate a strong signal, while a single LED indicates poor signal strength.

Important: At least two LEDs must be lit for wireless operation.

3.3. WIMAX CPE SU-I CONFIGURATION

The field engineers can monitor the scanning process by accessing the SU-O and using the following commands:

BASIC CONNECTIVITY TEST OF SU-O AND SU-I

PHYSICAL CONNECTIVITY

Step 1: Check that the AC Power Adapter is ON.

Step 2: Make sure that the network cables are inserted into proper ports

(CPE Power Adopter Computer/ ATA)

COMMUNICATION TEST

Step 1: Plug the Network cable directly from Power adapter to your system.

Step 2: On the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window confirm that the following settings are selected and then click the OK button

• Obtain IP address automatically • Obtain DNS server address automatically

Step 3: Verify the TCP/IP address.

• Click Start | Run, type cmd in the box, and click OK.

• Type the command, ipconfig. This will display the list of obtained IP address for the local machine. In addition, if you would like to view detailed contents, type ipconfig / all on DOS prompt to view hardware address and DNS entries.

Step 4: From DOS prompt, ping the following IP address 127.0.0.1 to check the status of your Ethernet controller.

Result: In case, the ping response is OK, then there is no problem with Ethernet controller of your local machine.

In case, ping request timed out, then check your Ethernet controller or Ethernet card and make sure drivers are properly installed.

Step 5: Ping x.x.x.x to test network connectivity with ZAIN network, where x.x.x.x is the Pre defined server placed on the ZAIN network.

Result: In case, the ping response is OK, then there is no problem in the connectivity of your network with ZAIN network.

In case, ping request timed out, then call at ZAIN Help line.

INTERNET TEST Step 1: Open Internet browser and try to access any web server like

www.google.com in address bar. Step 2: If you could browse successfully, your internet connection is ok and working

properly I Step 3: If you are unable to connect to the site. Above mentioned page will be

displayed. In order to troubleshoot the issue, review the following Steps.

Step 4: Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.

Step 5: On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.

Step 6: Select automatically detect settings, and then click OK

Step 7: Click the browser Refresh button, or enter the address again. Please also close the internet browser and open the web page again

Step 8: If the problem persists, do the connectivity test or call NOC
