Marlin Trust Management Organization

The Marlin Trust Management Organization (MTMO) is the operational entity that grants commercial licenses for Marlin technology. It is established by the five Marlin founders – Intertrust, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, and Sony

The Marlin Developer Community (MDC) is the innovation engine. It continues to build on existing Marlin technologies in an open community. By encouraging developers to participate, the specifications are more robust, targeted, and secure.

store• John selects and purchases an

eBook• The eBook is now available on his

bookshelf• He navigates with his reader device

to his bookshelf• In order to read the book, John

needs to register the eBook to the reader device (Download)

Use Case #3Preventing an unauthorized copy

• John wants to give a copy of the eBook to user “Bob”

• John “somehow” copies the eBook from his reader device to Bob’s reader device

• The URM (User Rights Management) prevents Bob from reading the eBook because it is not registered to the reader device

• John visits the homepage of the Public Library via his reading device or a web browser

• John selects an eBook that he wants to borrow

• The book is available in John’s bookshelf for the lending period

• The Library is always the owner of the eBook and can always “enforce” the return
