Songs of Praise to Yah ENDURE(Lamentations 3:21-26 Septuagint)
This will I lay up in my heart
Therefore I will endure
It is the mercies of Yahuah
That He's not failed me
Pity us
O Yahuah
Early every month
For we are not brought to an end
Because His compassions-are not exhausted (not
exhausted)
They are new every morning
Great is Your faithfulness
Yahuah is my portion, says my soul
Therefore I will wait for -wait wait for Him
Yahuah is good to them that wait for,
Wait wait for Him
The soul which shall seek Him is good
And shall wait for, and quietly expect-

Bereshit/Genesis 26: 18
(Gen 26: 18 Koren Pub) 18And Yiżĥaq dug again the wells of water, which they had dug in the days of Avraham
his father; for the Pelishtim had stopped them up after the death of Avraham: and he called their names after the
names by which his father had called them. (MT)
(Gen 26: 18 Brenton) 18And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of

Civil engineering works Isaac is managing civil engineering projects. The wells that were
available to him when his father was alive is no longer accessible. At the
end of part one of this study “Full Circle”, the breaking of the agreement
between Abraham and Abimelech was mentioned:
Team D Genesis 26 p1
The deal with Abraham is broken. There are agreements that has a ‘grandfather
clause’ embedded into them as one party dies. Other deals come to abrupt end.
Isaac is digging wells again because the Philistines thought it ‘prudent’ to
seal them after the death of Abraham. Knowing that Abraham is
deceased at this moment, not only puts the focus on Isaac, but his sons
too. As mentioned in past studies, water is a precious commodity in any
condition, the Philistines being aware of the necessity for water were
inconsiderate of their actions and maybe trying to leverage their power
over Isaac.
Isaac is no slouch though. He rolled up his sleeves and begun water
engineering works projects to keep his household satisfied with the
necessary life giving water. Every well that he dug, the name that his
father attributed to each, Isaac continued with the convention. Doing this,
Isaac memorialised his father and the struggles he faced with the
Philistines prior.

Bereshit/Genesis 26: 19, 20
(Gen 26: 19, 20 Koren Pub) 19And Yiżĥaq's servants dug in the valley, and found there a well of springing
water. 20And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Yiżĥaq's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the
name of the well ῾Eseq; because they strove with him. (MT)
(Gen 26: 19, 20 Brenton) 19And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water. 20And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of
the well Esek; because they strove with him. (LXX)

The Philistines on the one side, and maybe other tribal nomadic
peoples in the land of Gerar water resources is a precious
commodity. Each group would have persons and livestock needing
life-giving water. Isaac’s servant(s) struck water, and before he and
his household could savour the liquid sustenance, people were all up
in his business: “Isaac, yuh cah have dat water. Ah ours…!!!”
Because of the scarcity of water in a famine, conflict is inevitable
between tribes (Genesis 21 p2). In this situation, what is Isaac and
his servants to do? Where is YHWH Elohim in all this? Is he not
seeing the situation with Isaac whom he instructed to stay in the land?
Why don’t He, YHWH, not come to Isaac’s defence.
• ῾Eseq/Esek ( ק ש "contention" :6230( ע
No one is immune to the issues of life. Though our problems are not
on the scale as Isaac, it seems when a commitment is made to
honour the ways of YHWH Elohim, things seem to veer off the rails.
Relationship, financial, health etc. seems to become amplified
compared to the person who does not consider their ways. Even
King David had struggles. He poured his heart out in many Psalm to
YHWH Elohim:
Eking out an existence
Water conflict: https://www.bing.com/th?id=OIP.n6oB3kuU2EFV3sYt-UdkHQHaFj&pid=Api&rs=1
• (Psa 10 (11 MT): 1-3 Brenton) 1For the end, a Psalm of David. In the
Lord I have put my trust: how will ye say to my soul, Flee to the mountains
as a sparrow? 2For behold the sinners have bent their bow, they have
prepared their arrows for the quiver, to shoot privily at the upright in heart. 3For they have pulled down what thou didst frame, but what has the
righteous done?
We need to pour our heart out to YHWH Elohim in prayer and
praise. Also, we should not compare ourselves to those whom we
think is doing better than us. Our focus is to endure and wait for
salvation to come. And while we are enduring, as like-minded
believers, encouragement goes a long way.
YHWH Elohim has His eyes on the situation. As men, conflict will
arise. We believe that YWHW Elohim uses those moment for
men to build character. Isaac is being built up and YHWH Elohim
would intervene if the circumstance changes and Isaac’s life is
threatened. But why does it seem that trouble comes when you
are doing your best to serve YHWH Elohim?

Bereshit/Genesis 26: 21 - 23
(Gen 26: 21 Koren Pub) 21And they dug another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitna. 22And he removed from there, and dug another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Reĥovot; and he said, For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. 23And he went up from there to Be᾽er-sheva. (Gen 26: 21 Brenton) 21And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah. 22And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. 23And he went up from thence to Beersheba. Isaac continues with the civil engineering works and struck water
again. The herdsmen came at him again and he abandoned the
precious water after another successful dig. There is water in the
land. One must work to get it. The men of this land are lazy and
would rather use bullying than put in the work.
Isaac is no lazy bones. He is an intelligent man and moves on to the
next well project. They struck water again and no one came at him
for it. YHWH Elohim was with Isaac through the entire ordeal. This
was a test for Isaac in two ways:
1. Is he going to be obedient to stay put even if adversity comes
along. The temptation to drop everything and move to greener
pastures would have been an option for Isaac.
2. To build the character of Isaac as a man. Men need to learn
how to handle business and manage conflict. We may think
Isaac did the coward thing to give up viable wells. But he lived
to fight another day. Isaac choose ‘The Mountain to die upon
and it wasn't for a well of water. He had the expertise to find
viable locations for water.

And Isaac relocated again. He is truly a sojourner in the land as
his household is moved to ensure the survival of the many
mouths that depend on him. Hopefully Isaac has broad
shoulders to bear this tremendous responsibility. Like with
Abraham and Lot, both men could not live in the same spot
because the land could sustain them both. One had to move to
ensure the survival of their respective household and avoid
strife. In Isaac’s situation, his contention is with the people of
the land. Their attitude towards him changed. But Isaac maned
up and kept the momentum going.
The question to be asked is: How is his household coping at
this moment?

From a religious perspective, there is an expectation that YHWH
Elohim is going to open the floodgates of blessings once we accept
‘Jesus/Yeshua’ into our hearts. Disappointment steps in when the
struggles get great and we are not seeing results. As the adversary
aptly stated about Job:
• (Job 1:9 Koren) 9Then the adversary answered the Lord, and said, Does Iyyov fear God for nought?
Job was tested and found righteous. So too Isaac. He was tested in
this situation and he showed YHWH Elohim that he is faithful to his
instructions (Torah/Law). Both Job and Isaac passed their
respective test with flying colours. Both men received a visitation
from YHWH Elohim after they overcame their trials.
YHWH Elohim appears to Isaac and reaffirmed his commitment to
him on account of his father Abraham. This is a big deal as Isaac
listened to the voice of YHWH Elohim and not men. He, Isaac, was
diligent to keep the instruction of YHWH Elohim and he strived with
the men of the land and prevailed. The move is to his new location
as water is found and now no longer in the lands of his adversaries.
Isaac did something significant at this moment. He built an alter,
likely sacrificed a thank offering, and called upon the name of
YHWH.

Additionally, if Job, Isaac and many righteous men have been
tested by YHWH Elohim, it should not be any different with those
of us choosing to walk in his ways.
As it was shown to the Anointed One, this world is in the hands of
the enemies of YHWH:
• (Mat 4:8-9 KJV) 8Again, the devil taketh him up into an
exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the
kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9And saith
unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall
down and worship me.
We are not to bend the knee to the kingdoms of the world and
their standards. The Anointed One did not concede, and neither
did Isaac both being two unique beloved sons of their respective
fathers (monogenēs: Genesis 22 study). The world and it’s
values is going to test the true believers of YHWH Elohim. We
are not to give an inch, or concede to it’s values and demands.
He brought Noah through a flood. He preserved the righteous of
His possession through every trial, and also would see us
through once we do our part to pass the tests with flying colours.

After settling in Gerar, to wait out the famine with his family and
the many other souls under the tent, Isaac moved because of ill-
intentioned men. This moving would have affected much in his
house. We saw how Abimelech and the people, Philistines, of
the land changed towards him, and it was prudent to move on.
Back in Genesis 21 v 22, Abimelech and Abraham had a sitdown
about wells as the same situation occurred prior. It was
observed that Between the LXX and MT, there is an extra
participant that only one text mentioned. After referencing extra-
biblical sources, The Book of Jubilees sided with the LXX and
Jasher with the MT.
Abimelech had a change of heart and decided to pay Isaac a
visit. After all, he was on good terms with both his father and
mother. This encounter with Isaac, both the LXX and MT are
consistent with all participants, including the mysterious
Ochozath/ Aĥuzzat.

(Gen 26: 27 - 30 Koren Pub) 27And Yiżĥaq said to them, Why do you come to me, seeing you hate me, and have sent me away from you? 28And they said, We saw indeed that the Lord was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath between us, between us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee; 29that thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done to thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the Lord. 30And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink. (Gen 26: 27 – 30 Brenton) 27And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you? 28And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee; 29That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD. 30And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink. Isaac speaks up. A coward would not be scared to speak up,
and out, in the face of his enemy. Isaac let it be known that
because of their hate, he had to kick rocks and move on.
Denying him access to water was a threat to his life and that of
his household. Abimelech was not thinking straight when he took
the action to stop the wells and giving Isaac the boot.
What could have changed his mind, apart from seeing the
blessing of YHWH Elohim upon Isaac? His desire is to have a
covenant with Isaac of ‘no harm’. Isaac, being like his father,
showed the men hospitality and lavished them with a meal to
show, ‘no hard feelings’:
• (Pro 25:21-22 Brenton) 21If thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink; 22for so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee with good.
Why not show hospitality, Isaac had nothing to lose and he is
following the instructions of YHWH Elohim which his enemies
see the results: Favour.

There is a prolonged famine in the land. Isaac is thriving in spite of the
heavy hand of the Philistines. ‘How does that work?’, the Philistines might
be wondering. Abimelech and company are seeing Isaac making strides
and probably thinking to themselves, “where in the bleepity bleep is my
god? After all we’ve done to this man he is still standing strong.” When you
stand upon the ROCK, YHWH, you would always stand strong.
What about the god(s) Philistines:
(1Sa 5:1-5 Brenton) 1And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Abenezer to Azotus. 2And the Philistines took the ark of the Lord, and brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. 3And the people of Azotus rose early, and entered into the house of Dagon; and looked, and behold, Dagon had fallen on his face before the ark of the Lord: and they lifted up Dagon, and set him in his place. And the hand of the Lord was heavy upon the Azotians, and he plagued them, and he smote them in their secret parts, Azotus and her coasts. 4And it came to pass when they rose early in the morning, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off each before the threshold, and both the wrists of his hands had fallen on the floor of the porch; only the stump of Dagon was left. 5Therefore the priests of Dagon, and every one that enters into the house of Dagon, do not tread upon the threshold of the house of Dagon in Azotus until this day, for they step over.

acknowledged the One True God and met a hilarious end in his
temple of worship. Vestiges of D.a.g.o.n impression is still
lingering in religious ceremony and practices:

Ichthys:
The Jesus fish is a symbol is called an ichthys, which means fish. When written in the Greek
alphabet, it is also an acronym for the words Jesus Christ Son of God, Savior. Fish symbolism
dates back much further than the cross and it has been theorized that early Christians adopted
some symbolism from the ancient pagan Mesopotamians.

Ichthys:
The Catholic Pope and bishops wear a tall hat called a mitre, which is
shaped similarly to the headdress of Dagon. Some say it represents the
head of Dagon with an open mouth, which is why it has a split top and
pointy shape. Some say the reason the Pope wears it is to carry on the
tradition of the mitre worn by the very first pope who knew the secrets
of Dagon.

Your god is weak
The knee jerk reaction is to dispute the information that was just
presented. There is more than enough material in support of the
origins of these symbols as they predate Christianity. YHWH
Elohim explicitly told Israel not to have these things as part of their
praise and worship to him.
YHWH Elohim has not changed his view on these matters
and nothing should ever be claimed for His kingdom. It is like
putting lipstick on a pig. It is still a pig. The Philistines, wherever
they came from, brought their god in tow and is no match for the
Elohim of Abraham. As the Philistines continued living in the land,
they became a grief to Israel, including their champion Goliath who
King David made quick work of.
As mentioned in the previous study, the Philistines play a part in
end time prophetic fulfilment. Please revisit that study. Also, YHWH
Elohim is the Greatest and the Philistines know this.

Last Word along this rabbit trail. This fish symbol is also connected to the
zodiac sign pisces and coopted by early Christians: Symbol Dictionary: Vesica Pisces (Ichthys, Jesus Fish, Mandorla)
This symbol, called the vesica pisces (piscis) or “Jesus fish,” has an unusual history. Used
almost exclusively today to denote membership in the Christian religion, the symbol once
held a very different meaning (even to the early Christians who adopted it). The word usually
found inscribed within, IXOYE (Ichthus), is Greek, meaning fish. The emblem became
significant to Christians after St. Augustine, who extracted the word from the acrostic
prophecy* of the Erythraean Sibyl, and applied the kabbalistic technique of notarikon
(acrostic) to the word to reveal “Jesus Christ, God’s son, savior.”
The custom of early Christians to communicate by drawing a portion in the dust was carried
over from the practice of the ancient Pythagoreans, who discovered the shape’s unique
properties and made it an important part of their teachings. In earlier times, this glyph was
associated with the Goddess Venus, and represented female genitalia.
Early depictions of Christ depict him as an infant within the vesica (In this context, it is
usually referred to as a mandorla, meaning ‘almond shaped.’), which represented the womb
of Mary, and often, the coming together of heaven and earth in the body of Jesus (part man,
part god). As such, it is also a doorway or portal between worlds, and symbolizes the
intersection between the heavens and the material plane.

Bereshit/Genesis 26: 31 - 33
(Gen 26: 31 - 33 Koren Pub) 31And they rose up early in the morning, and swore one to another: and Yiżĥaq sent them away, and they departed from him in peace. 32And it came to pass the same day, that Yiżĥaq's servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had dug, and said to him, We have found water. 33And he called it Shiv῾a: therefore the name of the city is Be᾽er-sheva to this day. (MT)
(Gen 26: 31 – 33 Brenton) 31And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace. 32And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac's servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water. 33And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beersheba unto this day. The oath between men
It seems that Abimelech and Isaac swore something to each other.
It is not clear, as it is not stated, what are the provisions of the
oath. It is certain that the provision ends with Isaac and extends
no further. The book of Jubilees provides additional details:
(Jubilees 24:26b-33 Brenton) 26bAnd he called the name of that
place the Well of the Oath; for there he had sworn to Abimelech and
Ahuzzath his friend and 27Phicol the prefect Or his host. And Isaac
knew that day that under constraint he had sworn to them 28to make
peace with them. And Isaac on that day cursed the Philistines and said:
'Cursed be the Philistines unto the day of wrath and indignation from
the midst of all nations; may God make them a derision and a curse
and an object of wrath and indignation in the hands of the sinners the 29Gentiles and in the hands of the Kittim. And whoever escapes the
sword of the enemy and the Kittim, may the righteous nation root out
in judgment from under heaven; for they shall be the enemies and foes
of my children throughout their generations upon the earth. 30And no
remnant shall be left to them, Nor one that shall be saved on the day of
the wrath of judgment; For destruction and rooting out and expulsion
from the earth is the whole seed of the Philistines (reserved), And there
shall no longer be left for these Caphtorim a name or a seed on the earth.

The oath between men
(Jubilees 24:26b-33 Brenton) 31For though he ascend unto heaven,
Thence shall he be brought down,
And though he make himself strong on earth,
Thence shall he be dragged forth,
And though he hide himself amongst the nations,
Even from thence shall he be rooted out;
And though he descend into Sheol,
There also shall his condemnation be great,
And there also he shall have no peace. 32And if he go into captivity,
By the hands of those that seek his life shall they slay him on the way,
And neither name nor seed shall be left to him on all the earth;
For into eternal malediction shall he depart.' 33And thus is it written and engraved concerning him on the heavenly
tablets, to do unto him on the day of judgment, so that he may be
rooted out of the earth.
This section is reminiscent of Amos 9. Whether Isaac uttered
these words or not, the Philistines in the end would not meet a
favourable outcome as mentioned in part one of this study.

The oath between men
Water was found as Isaac continued with engineering
works. Where was Isaac getting water all this time?
When one has favour with YHWH Elohim, the
impossible is an every day occurrence. Water is found,
he has a ‘somewhat peace’ with Abimelech and life
continues. It should not be lost on us that Isaac has his
own water after the peace is made between him and the
leading Philistines. With the peace in place, no one can
move Isaac otherwise curses would follow for doing so.
A man’s word is his bond.

Bereshit/Genesis 26: 34, 35
(Gen 26: 34, 35 Koren Pub) 34And ῾Esav was forty years old when he took to wife Yehudit the daughter of
Be᾽eri the Ĥittite, and Basemat the daughter of Elon the Ĥittite. 35and they were a grief of mind to Yiżĥaq and to

(Gen 26: 34, 35 Brenton) 34And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the
Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite: 35Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.

The accounts of Isaac circumstances through the famine tells of his
resolve in the face of adversity. Why do the scriptures switch to these
moments in Isaac’s life? It seems it was going back instead of
progressing forward. Apart from showing the MIGHT of YHWH
through any situation, it is to also highlight, though not mentioned,
the trails everyone in Isaac’s house would experience which includes
his two sons. Returning to the sale of the birthright, Genesis 25: 29 –
34 & Jubilees 24: 1 – 8 (Genesis 25 pt2), it was the midst of the
famine when Esau sold his birthright to his brother Jacob. Having to
endure famine in a harsh land, always moving and being harassed
by Philistines is more than enough to wear anyone out.
Isaac was told by YHWH Elohim not to leave the area and he obeyed
the instruction. The uncertainty of the experience could have left
Esau with a probable low expectation of the future, hence what value
is a birthright. In his mind, it would be more valuable to eat another
day then die of starvation. With Isaac finding stability and not
doubting YHWH Elohim, everyone is in an excellent space to thrive.
Esau is doing the natural thing at his age, 40yrs: get married. Like his
father, Esau is getting hitched up at 40yrs to two women.

There are two issues at hand here:
1. Polygamy (To be broached when Jacob enters into marriage)
2. Who Esau chooses to marry.
Issue (1) is not a problem with Isaac and Rebecca. Having more
than one wife is not a sin. Issue (2) is what greifs Esau parents heart
as he chooses to marry women of the land. Abraham did not want
Isaac mingling with the women of the area, hence sending to his
fathers house for a wife for Isaac. Isaac and Rebecca, by extension,
would also want the same for their sons. Esau went ahead and did
him. He was not concerned about the feelings of his parents in the
matter. We see a pattern of his attitude beginning with his birthright.
His parents are powerless in the matter as Esau is an adult making ‘
big people decisions’. Again, where is YHWH Elohim in this matter?
Surely, YHWH Elohim is looking on from his abode as life unfolds for
everyone. Every decision has consequence. As Esau does him, the
effects of his actions would become evident.

Isaac and his family have been through much as they
sojourned in the land of promise. No one is immune from
trials but we can trust in YHWH Elohim to see us through,
enduring to the end:
(Wisdom of Solomon 3:1-9 Brenton) 1But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and there shall no torment touch them. 2In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die: and their departure is taken for misery, 3And their going from us to be utter destruction: but they are in peace. 4For though they be punished in the sight of men, yet is their hope full of immortality. 5And having been a little chastised, they shall be greatly rewarded: for God proved them, and found them worthy for himself. 6As gold in the furnace hath he tried them, and received them as a burnt offering. 7And in the time of their visitation they shall shine, and run to and fro like sparks among the stubble. 8They shall judge the nations, and have dominion over the people, and their Lord shall reign for ever. 9They that put their trust in him shall understand the truth: and such as be faithful in love shall abide with him: for grace and mercy is to his saints, and he hath care for his elect.
