G IVE LOCAL 2018
The Friends of the Silas Bronson Library will be participating
in Give Local, a 36 hour online giving event on April 24 & 25,
hosted by the Connecticut Community Foundation. Every
dollar raised will be stretched by bonus funds. We’ll be post-
ing more about the event on the library’s Facebook and
Twitter accounts as we get closer to the event. The money
raised by the Friends of the Silas Bronson Library supports our
public programs.
FRIENDS OF THE L IBRARY BOOKSTORE
Another great way to support the library is to shop at the
Readers’ Garden Bookstore, located on the first floor of
the library. Run by the Friends of the Library, the store has
gently used books, movies, and music with prices starting
as low as 10¢. The Book Store is open whenever the library
is open, and all proceeds raised go to the library’s public
programs and services.
JOIN THE FRIENDS OF THE S I LAS BRONSON L IBRARY
Membership in the Friends is $15/year for students and seniors; $25/year for
individuals; and $50/year for patrons. Become a member by sending your check
to Friends of the Silas Bronson Library, P.O. Box 2853, Waterbury, CT 06723.

Readers’ Garden Bookstore
Hi, Everyone - Hope you had a safe and healthy winter. Spring is
on the way and here is what we have planned for the season:
MARCH - Any detective story fans out there? You are in for a treat.
Two of the best loved detective characters, Michael Connolly's
Harry Bosch and John Sandford's Lucas Davenport will be featured
on our sale table; hard covers 50¢ and paperbacks 25¢. I don't
know about you, but I am already thinking about my garden and
yard and what flowers I'd like to plant. So, it's the time to feature
gardening books. There are some on annual flowers, perennials,
and some are devoted to specific flowers such as roses. We will
also feature do-it-yourself books at reduced prices.
APRIL - Spring is here. Time to rejuvenate our minds and bodies.
We have great deals on a large selection of health and self-help
books. Mystery writers will be featured as authors of the month.
MAY - Summer is around the corner. Time to start stocking up on those “beach” reads. Additional paperbacks
will be available on our sale table. And don't forget to check out the baskets on the floor; they feature specific
authors and are priced at 25¢ and 10¢.
For anyone who may still have a cassette recorder, we have a large selection of some great books on tape
that are not presently on the Bookstore shelves. If you have an interest in these, please call the library at
203-574-8222; leave your contact information and we will return your call/email to set up an appointment
so that you may review them.
