Affiliate Record StandingBoston Red Sox (MLB) 46-31 2nd Place in AL East

Playing against the New York Yankees seems to bring out the best in Nathan Eovaldi. His latest performance has the Boston Red Sox on the verge of a second straight sweep of their longtime rivals. Eovaldi pitched neatly into the eighth inning, Adam Ottavino escaped a pair of late jams and the Boston held off New York 4-2 on Saturday night. The Red Sox improved to 5-0 against the Yankees this season. It was a bounce-back night for Eovaldi (8-4), who was coming off his shortest outing of 2021 in which he lasted just four innings at Kansas City. He was more composed at Fenway Park, keeping his fastball in the high 90s while allowing one run off seven hits, issuing no walks and striking out six over 7 2/3 innings.

Affiliate Record StandingWorcester Red Sox (AAA) 29-18 2nd in Triple A East

It was another back-and-forth affair at Frontier Field, and it was another win for the Rochester Red Wings (19-28), who took down the Worcester Red Sox (29-18) 10-6 on Saturday night. The WooSox had the lead three batters in, when Franchy Cordero doubled to right and scored Jarren Duran. It was the start of an offense-filled first two innings, with a run coming home in each half inning. Rochester’s response in the bottom of the first was a Yadiel Hernandez solo home run, before a Jett Bandy sac-fly made it 2-1 in the top of the second. Moments later, a Red Wings’ RBI single from Blake Swihart re-tied it.

Affiliate Record StandingGreenville Drive (A+) 22-17 Tied - 2nd in High A East

The Grasshoppers blasted four homers while holding the Drive offense to just four hits for the second-straight night enroute to a series-clinching 9-4 win Saturday night at First National Bank Field. Tyler Dearden and Wil Dalton each hit solo homers to lead the team offensively tonight. The only other Drive hitter to collect a hit was Tyreque Reed, who registered two singles. Nick Sogard and Dom D’Allessandro compiled an RBI each. Jay Groome started for Greenville and took the loss after tossing 6.0 innings. He allowed four runs on five hits, three homers and one walk with eight strikeouts. It is the second-straight start he fanned eight batters, which ties a career high.

Affiliate Record StandingSalem Red Sox (A-) 24-22 3rd in Low A East

The Lynchburg Hillcats crack the code of the Salem pitching in the eighth inning to win their third straight. The Red Sox (24-22) get shutout for the third time this year while outhitting the Hillcats seven to five (25-19). The two starters of tonight’s game put on a show in the early going. In Brandon Walter’s first start of the season he went four innings giving up only two hits while striking out nine Hillcats. Lynchburg pitcher Jor-dan Jones outlasted Walter going 5.2 innings striking out six and surrendering no runs and five hits. Jones was followed by Andrew Misiazek and Trey Benton to finish out the Hillcat shutout. The only run of tonights game was unearned off of Ryan Fernandez. In the top of the eighth inning Angel Martinez singled to center driving in Eric Rodriguez on a fielding error by Gilberto Jimenez in center field.
