Concept smartphone app. The car parks itself after the owner has jumped

out at the entrance of a car lot or multi-storey car park. It finds a space

and, guided by a laser scanner and ultrasonic sensors, slots itself in and

turns off. When you are ready to go home you let it know via a

smartphone and it drives to meet you at the exit so you can pilot it home.

Super Joey. A set top box that works

in conjunction with Dish's Hopper

digital video recorder. The Hopper =

the living room's set top. The Super

Joey = extension for the bedroom or

the kitchen. Add in the Sling and

Dish Anywhere features (enabling

subscribers to watch shows through

the Internet or transfer them to Apple

and Android devices) and the result is

close to an anything, anywhere,

anytime TV experience.

The combination of Hopper and

Super Joey would let many Dish

users wean themselves off live TV

& the ads that go with them

Audi + BMW 27

Audi's self-driving cars will let drivers put autopilot in

control in congested traffic situations. It can take over

and guide the vehicle with perfect lane discipline at

speeds of up to 37mph (60 km/h). Using ultrasonic

and radar sensors as well as video cameras, the car

can maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front

and reduce speed or apply the brake if necessary.

BMW has shown off self-driving cars that can "drift" around

bends and slalom between cones. The modified 2-Series

Coupe and 6-Series Gran Coupe are able to hurtle round

a racetrack and control a power slide without any driver

intervention. Using 360-degree radar, ultrasonic sensors &

cameras, the cars sense and adapt to their surroundings.

Audi + Bosch 28

Remote control parking via smartphone app.

Using sensors, the concept Audi RS7 Sportback

can not only park itself in any space large enough to

accept it, the car can park itself via remote control.

Simply stop the car next to the space and get out.

Then, using a smartphone to connect to the vehicle,

order it to park and switch off its ignition. When it's

time to leave, the car can be instructed to exit the

space and pull up alongside the driver and his or

her passengers.

Bosch, better known for

its white goods and

power tools, showed off

its smartphone-

controlled self-parking

technology at the show.

3d printing comes of age 6. Anything anywhere production

ChefJet and ChefJet Pro by 3D Systems + Da vinci by XYZ printing 30

Two food-creating 3D printers

unveiled. The machines make

chocolate and sugar-based

confectionery shaped – using

printed sugar and liquid chocolate -

in ways that would be difficult to

produce using traditional methods.

At just $499, fully

assembled, the da Vinci

printer aims to attract a

new wave of "makers" to

the growing 3D printing

movement. Many 3D

printers cut costs by

requiring customers to

assemble them after

purchasing. The da

Vinci, however, comes

fully built.
