northeastern Manhattan.• Renaissance- revival of art, literature, and culture• “New Negro”- term during the Harlem Renaissance encouraging

Afr. Americans to embrace their culture –against Jim Crow racial segregation.

• Jazz- music with African-American roots that thrives in 1920s “Jazz Age” (Ragtime + Blues = Jazz)
