8 1 RS485 Connection

➊ Use a standard CAT5 cable to connect the RS485 connector on the SOLIVIA gateway with the RS485 connector on the SOLIVIA solar inverter.

If more than one SOLIVIA solar inverter will be connected in an RS485 daisy-chain, ensure that each inverter has a unique ID assigned in the solar inverter user interface.

By default, the baud rate is set to 19200 at the inverter(s) and the gateway. To change the baud rate at the gateway, see chapter "11.2 Connection Settings" on page 21.

On each inverter and on the gateway the baud rate must always be set to the same value!

The maximum length of the cable depends on the baud rate. For example, for the default baud rate of 19200, the maximum length is 1200 m.

At the last inverter in an RS485 daisy-chain, a RS485 terminating resistor is needed. Some of the SOLIVIA solar inverters have an internal terminating resistor which can be switched on/off, some need a special external terminating resistor.

Please refer to the inverter manuals to get more information about the topics mentioned above.

8 2 LAn Connection

➋ Connect a CAT5 Ethernet cable between the SOLIVIA gateway and the internet connected network point, e.g. the router. The cable length should not exceed 100 m.

EN8 6 Connecting the Ripple Control Receivers

nOTICE This chapter is only relevant when your grid supplier requires a power management or a power factor control.

➐ You can connect the digital inputs to a given function. This concerns the control of the power the inverter feeds to the grid (power management) and of the power factor (reactive power con-trol).

If your local public grid supplier requires a remote power derating capability, this can be imple-mented by using up to two ripple control receivers: one for power management and one for reac-tive power control.

The SOLIVIA gateway gives a voltage to the output A and measures the inputs 1 to 8. In this way the SOLIVIA gateway can detect the state of the relays of the ripple control receivers. The information which relay shall control what parameter has to be communicated by the public grid supplier.

nOTICE This chapter is only relevant when your grid supplier requires a power factor control.

The digital inputs 5 to 8 can be used to control the power factor (cos φ) of the inverters.

► To open the Power Factor Control section, click on Power Factor Control in the menu on the left side.

→ The Power Factor Control section is displayed.

Setting optionsFor 15 pre-defined combinations of input states (possible states: active or inactive), a separate power factor can be defined, either inductive or capacitive. If all inputs are inactive, the power factor is automatically set to 1.00.

Setting DescriptionPower Factor Sets the powers factor for the input state combination

defined on the left of the input field. Enter the values in the form 0.xx, e.g. 0.95.

Leading current (capacative) Sets the type of power factor: checked = leading current (capacative) unchecked = leading voltage (inductive)

EN11 5 PowerBalancing

nOTICE This chapter is only relevant when your grid supplier requires a power balancing.

Some countries require a symmetrical power feed into all three lines of the AC grid or allow an unbalanced power feed-in only within defined limits.

If the power fed-in into the AC grid is not evenly distributed over the three phases, the gateway is able to balance this unsymmetry.

HowthegatewayexecutespowerbalancingThe gateway balances the power per phase after every data polling cycle:

1. The gateway requests every inverter for the current data.

2. After the last inverter of the bus has sent its information, the gateway calcuculates the power of each line.

3. The gateway calculates the current unbalance.

4. The gateway selects the inverters to be power reduced.

5. The gateway calculates the reduction factor that is needed to balance the power.

6. The gateway sends the power control command to the specific inverters.

The gateway reduces the power as little as possible. This means, the power balancing reduces the unbalance until the adjusted unbalance limit is adhered.

► To open the Power Balancing section, click on Power Balancing in the menu on the left side.

→ The Power Balancing section is displayed.

Setting options

Setting DescriptionActivate correction Switches the power balancing function on/off:

checked = power balancing is switched ON unchecked = power balancing is switched OFF

Allowed unbalanced load You can define the maximum unbalanced load either as absolute value in Watt or as percentage of the nominal value.

When both values are set, the smaller one is considered.Assign each single-phase inverter to a grid line

For each single-phase inverter select the phase of the AC grid, which the inverter is connected to.

Take care to select the correct phase as the gateway cannot check whether the mapping of the inverters to the phase is correct.

If you are uncertain, you should ask your electrician to verify the cabling of each inverter.

nOTICE The gateway web server will show you a warning if the sum of the nominal powers on the three phases differs by more than the maximum unbalanced load. Even with this warning the balancing works. However this warning is a strong indica-tion that the mapping of the inverters to the public grid phases should be reviewed carefully!

EN11 6 Inverter Information

Here you can find the complete list of all SOLIVIA solar inverters that were once detected by the gateway.

► To open the Inverter Information section, click on Inverter Information in the menu on the left side.

→ The Inverter Information section is displayed.

Available information

Setting DescriptionConn. Displays whether the inverter is currently connected to the gate-

way: yes = connected no = not connected

Inverter type You can define the maximum unbalanced load either as absolute value in Watt or as percentage of the nominal value.

When both values are set, the Serial # The serial number of the inverter. You can also find the serial num-

ber on the type plate of the inverter.

By clicking a serial number you get detailed information about an inverter.

ID The RS485 ID (address) of the inverter.

nOTICE Please refer to the inverter manual for instruc-tions on how to set the RS485 address (ID) on the inverter.

Beside these information, you can read out the states of the portal connection and of the gate-way, the MAC and IP address, the firmware (FW) version as well as the count of the flash saves.

12 ResettingthegatewayThere are two ways to reset the gateway:

● Reset by using the configuration tool, please refer to chapter "11.2 Connection Settings" on page 21.

● Reset by pressing the reset button on the bottom of the gateway for at least 5 seconds. Both ways have the same result. Please also refer to chapter "11 Configuring the gateway" on page 20 for further information on the below mentioned configuration parameters.

A reset has the following effects_ ● Soft reset of the configuration parameters. ● Baud rate, interval time, power management, and unbalanced settings are not changed

(except that “use unbalanced” is switched off). ● The other parameters are reset to default:

– DHCP active – Proxy not active – Wireless RS485 modem not active – Unbalanced correction not active – Default IPs in subnet 192.168.0.200 – Proxy IP 0.0.0.0 – Default password (000000) and username (Delta)

● Inverter list is cleared

13 SOLIVIAServiceSoftwareThe SOLIVIA Gateway M1 G2 can also be used for the Delta Service Software.

The Delta Service Software enables the installer to adapt settings, realize firmware upgrades and other updates besides supporting him in detecting error sources, like e. g. over- or under-voltage, without any need to open the inverter. The memory from every inverter can be stored and readout with the software in order to facilitate maintenance and on-site service. Detailed information of every inverter can be monitored and if necessary adapted.

To use the SOLIVIA Service Software proceed as follows:

1. Install the gateway as shown in chapter "7 Mounting" on page 10 and "8 Setting up Con-nections" on page 13.
