Solid Geometry
• Polyhedron• A polyhedron is a solid with flat faces (from Greek
poly- meaning "many" and -edron meaning "face"). • Each flat surface (or "face") is a polygon.• So, to be a polyhedron there should be no curved
surfaces.• Non-Polyhedra - Some solids have curved
surfaces, or a mix of curved and flat surfaces (so they aren't polyhedra).

Figures
Polyhedra- Solid figure with all faces being flat and
polygons.
pyramids prisms
Non-Polyhedra – Solid figure with
curved or a mix of flat and curved
surfaces.
Cylinders Cones Spheres
Polyhedra - Prisms
• No Curves!• A prism is a polyhedron, which means the
cross section will be a polygon (a straight-edged figure) ... so all sides will be flat!
Examples of Polyhedra
Cube
Triangular Prism
Dodecahedron
Polyhedra - Pyramids
• A pyramid is a polyhedron with a polygonal base and triangles for sides.
• A pyramid is made by connecting a base to an apex
There are many types of Pyramids, and they are named after the shape
of their base.
