BUILDING AN ALLIANCE DAS SYSTEM

BUILDING AN ALLIANCE DAS SYSTEM

Build Head End:

1. Pull BIU_C from Filters. BIU_C includes MCDU, MCPU and MPSU cards.

2. Pull in required MDBUs from Filters and drop them into the open slots in the BIU.

Remember the following.

a. 4 available slots per BIU. If additional slots are needed, add a second BIU, combine

signals out of ODU ports using BIU_Combiner available in Splitter section and use same

ODUs.

b. Input ports are shown in the front in iBwave however these are test ports. All physical

connections are on the back of the BIU

3. Cover any blank slots in BIU_C with BIU_B from Misc.

Figure 1: BIU Chassis shown with 4 MDBU Cards.

4. Pull quantity required of ODU_C from Misc. (Maximum 4 per Sector)

5. Pull in the ODU fiber cards from FiberBDAHub, QTY 4 or 8 and drop into the ODU_C.

ODU_OM_4, or ODU_OM_4x2 from FiberBDAHub. If only 4-port card is used, include ODU_B

from Misc.

Figure 2: ODU Chassis shown with a 4 port module and a blank module.

OEU Setup:

1. The OEU is setup similar to the BIU. It is modular with the OEU_C located in Misc. and the 4-

port hubs located in FiberBDAHub.

2. Connect fiber from ODU to OEU. Connect up to 8 remote units to OEU.

3. The OEU can only connect to optical port 4 and 8 on ODU 1 and 2 for a maximum of 4 OEUs per

sector.

Connecting Head End Components:

6. Using “0dB Jumper” under cable category, connect the DL_OUT and UL_OUT ports from MDBU

cards to respective MDBU UL and DL ports on top right corner of BIU_C. These jumpers

represent the backplane technology of the BIU and are required due to iBwave limitations. Do

not order these jumpers.

7. Connect ODU UL/DL ports on BIU_C to ODU_OM cards. These jumpers are provided with

ODU_C.

8. Signal Sources are connected on MDBU cards in software into the inputs shown in Figure 1.

These inputs are physically located on the back of the BIU, but due to software limitations of

iBwave, are shown on the MDBU cards front image.

Remote Unit Setup:

1. The remote unit (ROU_C) is located in iBwave under the Fiber BDA category. There are two

options, ROU_C_AC or ROU_C_DC. Select based on power requirements.

2. The ROU_C has a single strand fiber input, VHF/UHF SMA-type connectors, a single N-type

connector for Leg A SISO, along with a Leg B SMA connector for LTE MIMO configurations as

shown in Figure 3.

3. Connect ODU fiber port to ROU fiber port.

4. Connect VHF/UHF antennas.

5. Connect Mobile antennas.

6. The remote unit is modular. In order to populate the BOM correctly, include all RDU modules

required from the Misc. category.

7. Up to 3 modules per ROU_C may be used. VHF/UHF or LTE modules can be added in the

ROU_Add-On under Misc.

TITAN REMOTE UNIT SETUP

The TITAN remote units in iBwave are defined by three parts due to iBwave limitation

1. Main units T_MRU & T_ARU are located in iBwave under the FiberBDAHub & FiberBDA

category respectively.

2. The bottom sections (T_MRU_Bottom & T_ARU_Bottom) are located under splitter

category(Do not order these parts)

3. Band modules (850C_RDU25, 1900P_RDU25, 900l_RDU25, ..etc) are located under

Repeater category

Main Remote Unit Setup T_MRU

1. To set up a main remote unit follow the steps below:

a- Pull T_MRU unit from SOLiD’s FiberBDAHub category

b- Pull T_MRU_Bottom unit from SOLID’s Splitter category

c- Pull two Band Modules from SOLiD’s Repeater category such as T_RDU_850 &

T_RDU_1900

d- Connect ODU fiber port to T_MRU fiber port.

e- Connect the two output ports on the T_MRU unit Dummy_RDU_1 & Dummy_RDU_2 to

the input ports of the repeaters band modules HROU respectively using a 0 dB Jumper

f- Connect the output ports of the band modules repeaters (Dummy_Bottom) to the input

ports of the T_MRU_Bottom unit Dummy_RDU_1 and Dummy_RDU_2 using a 0 dB

Jumper

g- Connect the output port T_MRU unit Dummy_Bottom to the input port Dummy_T_MRU

using a 0 dB jumper

h- Connect ANT_1 output port from the T_MRU_Bottom to a Mobile antenna using a coax.

cable.

Add-On Remote Unit Setup T_ARU

2. The T_ARU unit connection are done as follows:

a- Pull T_ARU unit from SOLiD’s FiberBDA category

b- Pull T_ARU_Bottom unit from SOLID’s Splitter category

c- Pull two Band Modules from SOLiD’s Repeater category such as T_RDU_700LTE &

T_RDU_2100

d- The connections of the band modules repeaters with the T_ARU & T_ARU_Bottom units

are done the same way as that for the T_MRU & T_MRU_Bottom described in Step 1.

e- The output ports of T_ARU unit T_MRU_DL & T_MRU_UL are connected to the input

ports of main bottom unit T_MRU_Bottom T_ARU_1_DL & T_ARU_1_UL respectively

using 0 dB jumper
