A large, at straw basket or other suitablelarge, at dish should be ready near the

    Introduction

The Way o the Cross calls us to recall the

suering o Jesus in a particular way. Today, many people in our world living in Asia,Arica, Latin America and the Middle East

continue to carry the cross o Christ. This

Way o the Cross allows us to refect both

on these burdens, and on the Resurrection

the ways o hope that lead to new lie. Yoursupport oDevelopmentanD peaceallows

these communities in the Global South toconstruct new lie.

This Way of the Cross is adapted from one devel-oped by Caritas Australia.DevelopmentanD

peaceis a member of Caritas Internationalis.

    Optional activity:

At each station a coloured piece of ribbon should

be given to each person. Each station should have

a different colour. At the last station the ribbons

can be twisted together to symbolize the interde-

pendency of all peoples in our global community:

what we do as individuals and as a communityhas ripple effects on individuals and communi-

ties around the world. Encourage participants to

keep their ribbons in their pockets or handbags

to remind them that what God wants from us is

a commitment in all areas of our lives to love one

another. There are some suggestions for other

    props; feel free to adapt.

    encounter Chrst.

who challenge the structures and cultural inuences

that keep women poor and marginalized.

candles and the six principles o thisDevelopment

    anD peacecampaign now ending.

in the shadow o the sadness and gre o the tomb

we take tme to refect on what has been and what can

be. We use ths tme n the tomb to renew our commt-

ment to truth, justce, peace and mercy.

Refection: The rends o Jesus had to leave hs body

wrapped n a lnen cloth and return to ther home. They

would have to wat to do what needed to be done.

We return to the sx prncples o ths campagn and

consder what we need to do to ensure that everyone

has the rght to partcpate ully n and have control

over decsons that aect ther lves and communtes.

it s mportant to be dscernng about how we work

or justce, to uphold the human dgnty o all we seek

to serve, and to remember that t was Chrst who set the

example o love, charty, compasson and justce.

From ths perspectve, we need renewal: a renewal o

passon, to allow Gods grace to work wthn us.

Prayer: Lord, let us go back to the tomb and tend to our

ssters and brothers. Help us to commt to the utureand antcpate the resurrecton.

ResPonse: Holy Spirit, empower us to be people o

    passion, inspiration and peace.

    For the beneft o all

As we enjoy our abundance o wealth,We pray or the hungry nations o the world.

May they be reed rom the yoke ooppression.

    ReSponSe: Hear your peoples plea.

As we celebrate the joys o creation,We pray or the people who are denied theirshare.May the earth and everything in itBe or the beneft o all human beings.

    ReSponSe: Hear your peoples plea.

As we beneft rom international trade,We pray or the producers and workersWho are deprived o their just reward.May all created goods ow reely or all.
