Gospel Acclamation Presentation of the Gifts : Ave Verum Corpus Text: Innocent VI, 1282-1362 Music: E. Elgar, 1857-1934
Ave verum corpus,
natum de Maria Virgine,
vere passum, immolatum
in cruce pro homine.
Cuius latus perforatum
fluxit aqua et sanguine:
esto nobis praegustatum
in mortis examine.
O Clemens, O Pie, O dulcis Jesu,
Fili Mariae.
Hail, true Body,
born of the Virgin Mary,
who having truly suffered, was
sacrificed on the cross for mankind;
whose pierced side
flowed with water and blood:
May it be for us a foretaste of glory
in the trial of death.
O clement, O Holy, O sweet Jesus,
Son of Mary.
Holy Mystery of Faith Amen

Choral Motet: O Sacrum Convivium Text: St. Thomas Aquinas, 1225-74 Music: R. Remondi, 1851-1928
O sacrum convivium!
in quo Christus sumitur:
recolitur memoria passionis eius:
mens impletur gratia:
et futurae gloriae nobis pignus datur.
Alleluia.
O sacred banquet!
in which Christ is received,
the memory of his Passion is renewed,
the mind is filled with grace,
and a pledge of future glory to us is
given. Alleluia.
