Mission San Luis Rey ParishFrom its beginnings, Mission

San Luis Rey Parish has been blessed with a diverse and

multicultural population in the San Luis Rey Valley of

Oceanside, California. For over 200 years, our mission

has been to welcome all who come and invite them to live the

Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mission San Luis Rey ParishStaffed by Franciscan priests and brothers of the Order of Friars Minor (OFM) of Santa

Barbara Province, our hope is that you will find our parish a place of welcome, peace and

The Cemetery of Old Mission San Luis Rey

In the shadow of the historic church is the original cemetery where burials

span from the 1800s to the present. Burial plots and niches can still be

purchased at Old Mission San Luis Rey; however cemetery property will not be available forever since there is limited

space for cemetery expansion.  Financing and discounts are available.

Old Mission Montessori School

The Old Mission Montessori School was established in 1976 and provides a Catholic-Montessori education for children of varied social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Our school

Franciscan School of Theology - 2013

FST is a Roman Catholic graduate theological school, owned and

operated by the Province of Saint Barbara of the Order of Friars Minor.

Rooted in 800 years of Franciscan tradition, FST is a place where the

issues and concerns of society intersect with theological education.

Franciscan School of Theology - 2013 FST students and alumni are workers in the fields of a spiritually starving world. They provide for the poor; they promote social

justice; they care for the suffering in homes and hospitals; they console the

dying; they provide comfort to the neglected in community centers; they

teach, they celebrate the sacraments in our parishes.

In 1223, St. Francis created the first Christmas crib so that the people around the Italian village of Greccio could have a first

person experience of the incarnation of Jesus.
