YOUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN CAN SOLAR SLATES BE USED?Solar Slates take the place of natural slates on any slate roof. However, roof angle is important. For the Traditional and Accent slates, the angle should exceed 27.5°. For the Multi slates, the angle should be over 30°.

Solar Slate can also be used as a wall cladding.

WHAT DO THE SLATES WEIGH? The weight is similar to that of natural slate so there are usually no additional structural surveys required. We will advise on the right product.

WHICH SLATES PROVIDE A MATCH?Our Solar Slates mimic and take the place of traditional natural roofing slates, which are blue-grey in appearance. They do not match other materials, such as concrete, clay or profiled tiles. Excellent appearance matches have been achieved with the following:

WHAT OTHER EQUIPMENT DO I NEED BEYOND THE SOLAR SLATES?In order to use the electricity generated by the Solar Slates you will need an inverter to convert the direct current into alternating current which is used within your property. You will also need a DC isolator and a KW hour meter.

WHERE CAN I SEE SOLAR SLATES?As many of the projects that have used Solar Slate are on private residential properties, we cannot share individual addresses. There are some installations that are visible from public areas, so please contact us for more information.

WHAT MAINTENANCE DO SOLAR SLATE INSTALLATIONS NEED? Solar Slates, like other solar panels, need to be kept clear of obstructions such as leaves and other debris as this can lower output. A simple water clean and annual visual inspection is advised to ensure optimal performance.

AND – WHAT WARRANTY DO I RECEIVE?The Solar Slate Multi has a 10 year product and power performance warranty.

Power peformance warranted as a minimum of 80% of initial estimated output after 10 years.
