�� Solar Punch is a solar-powered band. We have designed

our own portable off-grid solar-power station, which we use to power up amplifiers for our musical performance. Continuing our way up the renewable-energy learning curve, we now play through a solar PA, which makes us louder! During our shows, we are quite approachable, which enables a chance for dialog with audience members. We field questions about solar energy and music, drawing from our combined trades as artist, musician, physicist, and educator.

Band Mates Unite the WorldCreates a New World

� Band mates Alan Bigelow and james dean developed the band concept in direct response to the positive interactions they’d experienced as members of rock band Circus Guy. Circus Guy had used music to bridge cultural gaps between Arabs and Americans and teach about the environment throughout the Middle East. Circus Guy bandmate T.H. Culhane can even claim co-creating the very first solar-powered band, Solar Plexus

Our current sound system

Our current sound system, Centered around a Mackie 8-channel powered mixer / P.A., is a standard rock club P.A. and can make a lot of noise. We run the whole thing from our battery set through a 1200 watt pure sine wave inverter. Most of our battery charging happens via the PV panel Alan has mounted to the roof of his car. A retooled music gear flight case holds the batteries, the inverter, the MPPT charge controller and the remote sensor.
