SIJ is a is a central scientific and interdisciplinary research institute of the Aachen University of Applied Sciences (AcUAS) with 65 employees in 2011. SIJ develops technical solutions and products according the market needs e.g. solar low-temperature systems and solar process-heat collectors as well as high temperature components for solar thermal power plants in close collaboration with the industry and research partners. In addition, components for sea-water desalination and demineralisation are developed in international projects. CHP, Energy Efficiency, Exhaust gas after-treatment and Simulation are further fields of research.
