Principal Scientist

• Mark S. McClain is the Principal Scientist for SOILS1®Soil Science Experts and has over 30 years experience as a soil scientist, soil classifier, wetland scientist, ecologist, and environmental scientist working on various environmental and ecological projects including many private, commercial, industrial, municipal, communications, airport, military, and transportation projects.


• These responsibilities include the management of SOILS1®Soil Science Experts and the environmental and ecological phases of project development. This includes the analysis of environmental impacts to cultural resources, land use, threatened and endangered species, waters of the U.S., State waters, as well as other social and environmental impacts.


• The SOILS1®Soil Science Experts professionals are directly involved in the preparation of environmental documentation as required by the NEPA and the environmental legislation enacted by individual states such as the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA).


• They have extensive experience with the potential impacts to neotropical/migratory bird species under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act; Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act of 1996; Protected Species Assessments and the Endangered Species Act; Wildlife Coordination Act; Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act;


• Invasive and Exotic Plant Species (Executive Order 13112); Georgia Standard Specifications Section 201, Clearing and Grubbing of Right-of-Way;
