CHICKENS: Providing a family with some chickens can help them enrich their diet and earn money. We make this gift in partnership with Save the Children. SOCIETY POINTS SEPTEMBER 2010 Most recruitment firms like to a finish a process by sending the appointed candidate a bottle of champagne or a basket of cookies. We take a different approach. Rather than shower people with gifts, we ask them (or sometimes their children) to pick from one of the following options and have us make a donation to charity in their name. PIG: It might sound funny, but a pig can act as a vital source of food for older people and their families in the Global South. We make this gift in partnership with Age UK. RESPITE: Young carers bear heavy responsibilities looking after family members with long-term health problems. In partnership with Action for Children, we pay for them to have a dream day out and ongoing support. WELL: Fresh water is a village’s lifeblood. Installing or fixing a well can revive an entire community. We make this gift in partnership with Oxfam. 2010 has been a busy year for Society. We’ve moved into offices in the heart of Covent Garden, taken on a number of new clients, and grown our team substantially. Today is another milestone: the first edition of our bi-annual newsletter ‘Society Points’! We wanted to take an opportunity to wish you all a happy end to the summer and to let you know a little about what we’ve been getting up to since January. On 9 th July Society took part in Business and the Community’s annual ‘Give & Gain Day’. Our whole company volunteered together at a homelessness shelter in Tower Hamlets. The hostel is run by Look Ahead (www.lookahead.org). Set up 30 years ago, it provides temporary shelter for around 170 homeless people from across East London. We spent several hours painting the hostel’s ‘Resource Rooms’. As you can see from the photo on the left, some of our team got nearly as much paint on themselves as they did on the walls! Later in the day we ran a CV writing and interviewing skills workshop for the residents. www.impact-society.com Which choice would you expect to be the most popular? Well, the scores for the last six months are pretty conclusive:

SSSOOOCCCIIIEEETTTYYY IS THE RECRUITMENT FIRM FOR RESPONSIBLE BUSINESSES. WE CHOOSE TO WORK WITH ORGANISATIONS WHO WANT TO MAKE AN

IMPACT ON THE WORLD AROUND THEM.

CHICKENS: Providing a family with some chickens can help them enrich their diet and earn money. We make this gift in partnership

with Save the Children.

SOCIETY POINTS SEPTEMBER 2010

Most recruitment firms like to a finish a process by sending the appointed candidate a bottle of champagne or a basket of cookies.

In partnership with Action for Children, we pay for them to have a dream day

out and ongoing support.

WELL: Fresh water is a village’s lifeblood. Installing or fixing a well can revive an entire community. We make this gift in partnership

with Oxfam.

2010 has been a busy year for Society. We’ve moved into offices in the heart of Covent Garden, taken on a number of new clients, and grown our team substantially. Today is another milestone: the first edition of our bi-annual newsletter ‘Society Points’! We wanted to take an opportunity to wish you all a happy end to the summer and to let you know a little

about what we’ve been getting up to since January.

On 9th

July Society took part in Business and the Community’s annual ‘Give & Gain Day’.

Which choice would you expect to be the most popular? Well, the scores for the last six

months are pretty conclusive:

We know that many companies are

looking for new ways to put something back

and make a contribution that will resonate

beyond their sector. We also know that there

are many charities that would benefit from

professional recruitment support, but can’t

afford to pay for it. We’ve therefore created

a kind of altruistic loyalty points scheme to

bring the two together in a win-win scenario.

The concept is simple: as a company

uses Society for its recruitment needs, they

are allocated ‘Society Points’. These are then

redeemable by a charity of their choice. The

company nominates the charity, and we do

some work for them at cost.

If you know a charity that could

benefit from some help finding new talent,

then let us know at [email protected].

It’s always possible we’ll have a commercial

sugar daddy waiting in the wings!

THE LOYALTY POINTS OUR CLIENTS COLLECT CAN DIRECTLY BENEFIT THEIR FAVOURITE CHARITIES. DO YOU KNOW A CHARITY THAT COULD USE RECRUTIMENT SUPPORT,

BUT CAN’T AFFORD IT?

What is Society? We are a recruitment firm with a conscience. Our goal is to work with

organisations that care deeply about having a positive effect on the world around them. To that end

we are building a client portfolio of companies, charities, public bodies and social enterprises that

measure success not just in terms of their financial bottom line, but also in terms of their impact on

the environment, their communities, and society at large.

What does Society do? We help our clients find people who not only have the right experience and

the capabilities, but who will also resonate with them in terms of values. When personal and

corporate values meet to create a common passion and purpose, no obstacles are insurmountable.
