Dear Colleague:

As the Society of Toxicology Endowment Fund continues to build for the future, I would like to thank all of the SOT members who have helped the SOT Endowment Fund grow through your generous contributions. The Fund continues to increase in worth, with net assets now totaling $1,661,593, which includes $97,555 of additional 2011–2012 contributions and matching funds.

The SOT Endowment Fund family also continues to grow with the Daniel and Patricia Acosta Diversity Student Fund being created in January of 2012. There are now currently 34 Named Funds as well as three General Funds—Education, Global Activities, and SOT Priorities.

During the 51st Annual Meeting in San Francisco, thirty-nine Endowment Fund awards were underwritten. The Undergraduate Educator Award, given to a SOT member who has made outstanding contributions to teaching of undergraduate students in toxicology, was underwritten by the Endowment Fund. Additionally, the Endowment Fund Board continues to partner with the International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX) to provide financial assistance for scientists from countries where toxicology is underrepresented to travel to the SOT Annual Meeting. The conveying of these awards supports SOT's strategic efforts to "Build for the Future of Toxicology." We anticipate that the Endowment Fund will underwrite an additional 45 awards at the 52nd Annual Meeting in San Antonio in March 2013. For a complete listing of the 2012 SOT Endowment Fund Award winners please visit: www.toxicology.org/ai/csot/endowAwards.asp.

Finally, we continue to work on our strategy to further develop the Endowment and further support the strategic goals of SOT. Some of the general membership was canvassed in 2011–2012 to help refine areas for immediate focus and approaches are under discussion for future fund-raising for the three General Funds, as well as the Named Funds.

Please take a few minutes to visit the SOT Endowment Fund website at www.toxicology.org/ai/csot/contribute.asp to view the Honor Roll of Contributors and the Contributors by Fund listing that includes the names of donors to individual funds.

I hope that you will consider making a contribution to the Endowment Fund. The support that you and other SOT members give makes a significant difference and the Endowment Board is forever grateful.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Handler, PhD, DABT Chairman SOT Endowment Fund Board Chair
