When, Where, and Why to use Adjunctive Chemotherapeutics - Elisa Sin, DMD, MSDA review of available chemotherapeutics along with when, where, and why you would use them for the management of periodontal patients. Systemic and local antibiotics, antiseptics, and host modulating agents are reviewed to help the practitioner determine their appropriate applications.Dr. Sin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and International Congress of Oral Implantologists. She has served as a clinical instructor at USC, UCLA, and Loma Linda University. She has also acted as a member to the Advisory Board for Concorde’s Dental Hygiene Program. Dr. Sin works in private practice in So. California.

Dr. Sahl is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Sahl is an Assistant Professor, Acting Director Advanced Education Program in Periodontics, Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Dr. Sahl has won a number of prestigous awards and also maintains a private practice in the Palm Desert vicinity.

Osteoporosis and Osteopenia: Implications for Periodontal and Implant Therapy - Joan Otomo-Corgel, DDS, MPHDiagnosis and development of osteoporosis and osteopenia will be reviewed and discussed along with how to understand the clinical application treament needs of patients with or susceptible to osteoporosis. This lecture will review how to apply the implications of low BMD in periodontal/implant therapy along with a review of medications available to treat patients with low bone density and how to alter clinical periodontal/implant therapy as indicated.

Dr. Otomo-Corgel is a current Associate Professor in the UCLA School of Dentistry, Dept. of Periodontics and Research Chair at the Greater Los Angeles VA Health Care Dental Service. Dr. Otomo-Corgel is President of the American Academy of Periodontology. She lectures extensively on periodontal medicine, medical emergencies, over the counter dental prodcuts and clinical periodontal topics. Dr. Otomo-Corgel maintains a private practice in Los Angeles, CA.
