A Social Network is a site that allows users to create a personal account and connect with their friends who are on that site, the can post any content or a specific event and can follow the most important updates related to them and their interests
Facebook is considered the most famous and used social network in the world, where number of users hit over one billion active users.
There are also social networks with a professional nature such as LinkedIn, these networks are usually built around the professional side of the user.
Forms of Social Media
Blog is a webpage showing entries (blog posts), these entries are usually dated in chronological ascending order, it also features a mechanism to archive old entries.
The most important characteristic about blogs is that they naturally interactive allowing users to comment on any article or a subject published.
The most famous blogging platforms are Blogger and Wordpress. There are over 600,000 blogs in the Arab World

Micro-blogging sites allows users to send updates on their personal profiles with a maximum of 140 characters per message (update)
Twitter is considered the most famous and used micro-blog in the world with
2.8 million active users around the world sending over 500 million tweets daily.

Video-sharing sites allows users and organizations share video content on the platforms to their subscribers.
The most famous and used video-sharing networks are Youtube,
with over 1 billion active users.
There are over 170,000 views happens daily on Youtube from the Arab Region.
4. VIDEO-SHARING NETWORKS
Photo sharing networks allow the publishing or transfer of user’s digital photos online, thus enabling the user to share them with others (privately or publicly).
The most famous photo sharing networks are Instagram & Flickr.
With over 300 million active users worldwide.

Wikis are free encyclopedia sites on the internet which allow users to add and edit content within pages on the website.
The most famous Wiki site is Wikipedia, with over 30 million articles in different languages. These articles are added and edited by 120,000 active users around the world.
There are over 10 million visitors on Wikipedia from the Arab Region.
