1. Set Up

2. Strategy Creation

1. Identify your consumer wants– In order to choose the best platform, you will

have considered your target market– Profile out your target market – give them a

name, describe their age, gender, location, interests, the types of content they engage with. You may have more than 1 target market

– Determine what a good outcome from using social media will be for you. Website traffic; raised awareness about your product/services; people buying off the page; etc?

– Determine the best types and focus of content that will appeal to your target market/s AND achieve your outcome

2. Strategy Creation

1. Identify your consumer wants– Work out how often you will post. Will it be

everyday, several times a week, or a couple times a week?

– For each time you will post/week, choose a ‘Content Category’ to help you focus on what content to create and share with your fans

– How will you test and measure if this is working?

Write all of this down – this will be your Strategy!

2. Strategy Creation

• When it comes to creating and posting your content there are MANY tools available

• To create your content – be guided by your strategy and post what is relevant to your fans and that which will help you to achieve your goal for using Social Media

• Use the Posting Plan template to help you prepare your content

3. Content Publishing

What makes a great post?– Give, Give, Give – add value and share useful

content your fans will appreciate & want to come back for more

– For most platforms - short, sweet and to the point is best. People have a lot of info in front of them, if yours doesn’t grab their attention quickly, they will move on

– Keep it conversational – it’s easy to ready and much more engaging!

– Light-hearted, entertaining, storytelling posts can perform well – but it depends on your ‘voice’

– Use images, links and hashtags (#) and calls to action whenever necessary

3. Content Publishing

To create great images:– Use tools to create or improve the visual

appeal of your image if needed:• Cropping• Add filters• Add text• Borders, colours, etc• Make them the correct size

– Refer to list of Picture/Image tools you can use!

– Include people or places people recognise in your photo when possible

3. Content Publishing

To post your content:– You can post ‘live’ whenever you need to do a

post OR– You can prepare your content and schedule it

to be posted in advance (Facebook scheduling or using Hootsuite)

– Post at times when your fans are typically online (early morning/evenings/night/breaks)

– Monitor your post and respond as necessary! Don’t neglect your fans after you have posted!

3. Content Publishing

Check in to see what is working regularly:– Use the tools available on the platform to

measure your success. Eg. Facebook Insights– Do more of what is working well and receiving

engagement from your fans and less of what isn’t

– If something isn’t working, try doing something differently

– What feedback are you getting from your fans? What are people saying or asking for?

– Adjust your strategy accordingly

4. Monitoring & Review
