Networking:A new way to think about it…

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ ... You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

— Eleanor Roosevelt, former first lady

Question: What does this quote have to do with networking?Answer: It has everything to do with networking!

• Most people don’t like to network. They fear both networking face to face and conducting phone networking meetings.

• Most people and our clients look at me as if to say, “Right, Rebecca, I don’t think so. You are not going to get me to make that cold call.”

• However, they (and you) must know that 70–80% of people who succeed in landing a job or secure a new client do so through networking.
