All Christian Churches teach that there should be religious freedom


Starter:What do Muslims believe regarding other religionIn GCSE terms it is: What is the Muslim attitude to multi-faith-Britain?


Outcomes:All must learn the three Christian views on multi-faith BritainMost should understand why Christian hold such viewsSome will compare this view to the Muslim or the Hindu view


Everyone should have the right to follow whatever religion they want. They also teach that people should not be discriminated against because of their religion. However, there are three different Christian attitudes to other religions


On your table discuss the relevance of the three views given to you in 6 minutes!

Brainstorm around it on the paper given


1- Only Christianity have the full truth though all religions have parts of it

2- Only Christianity is the only way full stop.

3-Christianity is equal to all the other religions in the eyes of God


Now compare it to your own religion.How do you feel when someone tells you, you are wrong and they could only be right.How will they feel when you tell them they are wrong and you could only be right.

Christian attitude to other religions

1-Some Christians believe that people can come to God through different religions, but only Christianity has the full truth, and only Christian can be certain that they will go to heaven. They believe this because:The Bible says that salvation (going to heaven) comes through believing in JesusAlthough God can be found in other religions, the full truth about God can only be seen in his son Jesus

2-Other Christian believe that Christianity is the only way to come to God and that all other religions are wrong.

They believe this because Jesus said that he was the only way to God (‘I am the way, the truth and the life, no-one comes to the Father except through me.’ John 14:6


3-Some Christians believe that all religions are equal and that they are just different ways of finding God. So each person should follow the religion they feel most at home with.They believe this because:They do not regard the Bible as the word of GodThey believe that God is a force like gravity which can be discovered by humans in different ways
