A massive sports complex is being built in the Russian resort of Sochi on the Black Sea. The town, which until recently, was a cluster of sanatoriums, will be hosting the Winter Olympics in 2014. Sochi 2014 is not only for sports, but large-scale investments in roads, railways and airport.

Russia released an astronomical sum of $ 50 billion to host the Winter Olympics. It's by far the most expensive games in the history of Olympic sport. This amount is 5 times greater than originally planned. Compared to previous events, it is $10 billion more than the cost of the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and more than 3 times more than the budget of the Olympic Games in London in 2012. According to Russian opposition, the extravagance hides corruption and theft on an incredible scale.

The ice-rink events will be held in the city of Sochi. The main facilities, Olympic Stadium and press center was built here.
