HISTORYIt Is not known its origin of the word Sochagota; Since the word Socha in chibcha means "Moon water", Sochagota could mean "drop of water from the Moon". When the artificial lake was made in 1956, it was baptized with the name of Sochagota. Another possibility is that the name belongs to a witty play on words related to the Anglicism "such-a-drop“ it refers to the considerable extension of the Lake, simultaneously mixing it with words in Spanish. The idea of building the Lake Emiro Fonseca Franky, was in 1955 when he was Governor Olive towers and with the help of Gustavo Rojas Pinilla.
