The Event The BIG SND Film Festival provides a unique, multi-media platform to highlight film, music, fashion, and art that aims to make a positive difference in the world.

The festival brings top filmmakers, musicians, artists, and fashion icons together for four full days of screenings, concerts, shows, and events. The festival ties into a kick off Table For Ten™ charity dinner where 30 chefs cook table-side at 30 tables of 10 guests each to benefit the charity.

Executive Summary The biggest humanitarian crisis in history is the refugee displacement that is happening now, today. Every single day 42,000 are displaced because of world conflict; 51% are under the age of 18 years of age. The refugee problem is here to stay unless we take action. The 2016 festival is to the benefit of child refugees.

The 2016 BIG SND Film Festival is also the most entertaining and attractive film festival platform possible for Independent Filmmakers to be recognized. Top Music Artists will perform during intermissions and in VIP areas, plus fashion shows in the main and VIP areas.

Following the festivals humanitarian emphasis, The 2016 CARA Awards will be given to Celebrities in Music and Film who have shown exemplary efforts in humanitarian relief causes. In addition, The BIG SND Film Festival will also be working with local Los Angeles shelters to screen films during the days of the event, in separate locations and via chartered bus to local Los Angeles poor and underprivileged in Skid Row and surrounding Los Angeles areas.

History of the 501c3

“As a teenager in high school my very first job was at a CVS store, a not so glamorous job! But what happened there one day has shaped me ever since…I remember seeing a young boy with downs syndrome who seemed lost and confused crying loudly for his mother. I knew at that moment that I wanted to give myself to help those who could not help themselves.

My motto became, “If I don’t help, who will?”

- John Sill-up, Founder.

The Society of Notre Dame is a charitable 501(c)3 Corporation and a fraternal organization. Started in 2007, John Sill-up chose the name after living and working overseas with Mother Teresa’s nuns.

The main focus is to help the issue plaguing today’s 60 million refugees by donating 100% of profits to care for those refugee children in need. The goal is to provide by charitable donation and intangible goods, any service to extend and enhance a more charitable world one person at a time by specialized programs we have done in the past and plan for the future.

The work of the Society of Notre Dame (SND) continues to be a personalized way of expressing charity by its programs specified to help individuals. “The effect of a single stone thrown into a lake can have just as much effects over time, as many stones.”

Marketing Introduction Showcase your brand in front of a targeted audience of filmmakers, film connoisseurs, musician, artists and distinguished entertainment industry professionals. The Big SND Film Festival will include celebrities, industry pros, network executives, the press, record label execs, writers, models, entertainment lawyers, producers, critics, filmophiles, publishers, as well as high-profile tastemakers and the public.

*Film festivals are one of the youngest segments of the different types of festivals because of one major reason: the history of film making is just over 100 years. Film festivals were created as competitive events in which the winners were bestowed with a widely accepted artistic merit that many films did not have.

As a major impact on the film business, cinema began in the 1890’s and by 1950 approximately 22,000 films had been produced in the United States.

In 1958, the San Francisco Film Festival began, followed by the New York Film Festival in 1963, the Chicago International Film Festival in 1965, the Seattle International Film Festival in 1974, and the Boston Film Festival in 1985, respectively. Countless other film festivals occurred in between each of those. There are numerous film festivals that happen each year around the world, and new ones are added every year.

Jerome Gastaldi – Art Auctions & Art Components Jerome Gastaldi is a contemporary American artist of Italian ancestry, whose work combines first hand impressions, perceptions and observations that explore and comment upon our society. Gastaldi’s powerful works stand astride the borderline between Expressionism and Surrealism, and have been compared by art critics to that of Robert Rauschenberg, Edward Kienholz, and Francis Bacon. His creative process is both emotional and intuitive, as evidenced by Gastaldi’s rapid handling of paint, his distortion of the human figure, the rich use of symbols, and the inclusion of found objects. There is a complexity and depth to his multi-layered imagery that reflects what the modern world offers the individual; not fixed, solitary images that can be grasped and reflected upon, but instead a seemingly unceasing flow that blurs the sense of reality and threatens to overwhelm the ability to comprehend. He lives and works in Southern California. His studio is on his four acre ranch called Rancho Capriata, named after the town of Capriata de Orba in Northern Italy, where his family is originally from. He works in a number of media, including painting, sculpture, print making, and performance. Gastaldi’s work has been exhibited internationally in museums, universities and other public institutions, as well as held in public, private and corporate collections. To see other works by the artist, as well as his exhibition Bridges to Freedom, which focuses on the positive and important aspects of the diversity of American culture, please visit www.peopleoftheboats.com

Mrs. Sauer has spent years tending the sick and dying as a nurse. She began her journey of self-giving by entering an elite spiritual group of nuns, known as the cloistered Carmelites. After this experience, she realized that to show charity and love for her meant to be active in other people’s lives. Her public speaking experience as well as her motivationally moving spiritual and moral testimony of caring for her late paraplegic husband is what makes her a cornerstone for our work. “Caring for people one by one with quality and genuine concern for their entire well-being is not something taught but is an act of love, a gift of God to us”. Her work of caring of her own family of 6 children and her has not stopped her from being a tremendous anchor behind the Society of Notre Dame.

Rev. Peter Glabik Secretary

Rev. Peter Glabik: As a young man, Rev. Glabik wanted to help others by giving his life as a servant of the poor. At 17 he joined the Vincentian order of brothers and fathers after the example of St. Vincent de Paul. Actively participating for years with the organizers of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Rev. Glabik felt moved to help people more directly through parish work where he continues to serve individual people in their humanitarian and spiritual needs in the Diocese of Patterson, NJ. His contribution to the Society of Notre Dame is full of rich experience and we are proud to have him on our board of directors.
