ACG is a not for profit trade association, recognised asa leading authority on the worldwide trade in fakes.

ACG was founded in the UK in 1980 with just 18 members(mostly in the automotive industry) who discovered thatthey had a common problem with counterfeits.

Today ACG represents over 150 organisations globally,operating in, or providing specialist advice to, mostindustry sectors where counterfeiting is an issue.

ACG represents the interests of UK and multinational companies, manufacturing just about everything you can think of, from toothpaste to mobile phones, chocolate to car parts.

Our membership also includes lawyers, barristerschambers, trade mark agents and brand protection specialists, creating a unique environment for anti‐counterfeiting interests to flourish and collaborate.

Via our lobbying, networking and awareness activities,ACG campaigns against the trade in fakes on behalf ofconsumers and legitimate business interests, in partnershipwith government and law enforcement agencies, and otherrights organisations.

Our ultimate aim is to change society's perception of counterfeiting as a harmless activity, by exposing theworldwide economic and social cost of intellectual propertycrime.

ASSOCIATES GROUP The Associates Group meets twice a year and on ad‐hococcasions when there are specific legal issues to discussand resolve.

Individual Associates also contribute greatly to initiatives of other ACG Groups and Committees on legal matters e.g.several Associates regularly assist with legal research andwith drafting ACG submissions in government consultations(OFT, Enterprise Act)




BRAND PROTECTION GROUP (BPG) BPG members are companies which offer materials, devices and systems, investigative & consultancy services,intelligence, market research and evidential services.

Membership of ACG provides mutual benefit – theexpertise of our BPG is invaluable, and membership offerscompanies a chance to network both with brand ownersand with each other.

Counterfeiting is a serious organised crime and thosefighting it need to collaborate and share information andexperience as much as possible

Industry's investment/creativity is under global attack.

Manufacturers/specialists who provide services to them, need to be able to co‐operate effectivelywith each other and act together with lawenforcement agencies, outside of their normallycompetitive environments.

We have an uncertain future for IPR enforcement, hugefunding cuts to trading standards, and global expansion ofserious organised crime so ACG is working hard to keep IPcrime firmly on the political agenda
