The black mamba is the largest most venomous snake in Africa reaching up to 14 feet . They are also the fastest slithering snake in the world, going up to 12.5 miles per hour.

Black mambas get their name not from their skin color which tends to be olive to gray, but rather from the blue black color from inside their mouth which they display when threatened.
