SMS for the Enterprise
Reaching Your Customers Where They Are
Why SMS Still in 2015?
● The first SMS was sent in 1992● SMS was the most widely used data application
by 2010● The smartphone though has ushered in greater
email and chat use with the addition of OTT apps
● Yet, SMS is still widely in use and remains one of the primary channels of communication
Why SMS Still in 2015?
● Has a higher engagement rate than both email and OTT apps
● Low barriers to entry. No pairing or accepting friend requests
● No need for “speed” to exchange messages● Anyone with a mobile number is reachable
Why SMS Still in 2015?
● While OTT and email have reduced person-to-person (P2P) SMS, application-to-person (A2P) is increasing in use
● A2P is being used for notifications, updates, credentials distribution, 2-factor authentication and opt-in marketing
● 2nd tier SMS aggregators such as Nexmo and Twilio remove the need for app providers to manage a variety of middlemen such as gateway providers, basic aggregators, marketers and resellers.
