The SMF/SIGN is the instrument for the in-field real-time
assessment of Vertical Guidance Signs, able to perform all
the measurements recommended by ICAO Annex 14 using
a fast, friendly and affordable procedure.
The easy use of SMF/SIGN allows to collect the pictures of
all the vertical signs installed in a big airport in just one
night. The operator can ask for the instant processing of
current sign or to collect all the images first to be later
processed in a single session.
The built-in system database allows the maintenance team
to get and store all the photometric data for each Vertical
Guidance Sign installed in the Airport.
SMF/SIGN makes now possible to apply the full set of
ICAO recommendations for SIGNS due to the powerful
image analysis software which allows to measure the
Luminance, Luminance ratios, Colors, Letter and Numbers
dimensions, Color Ratios, Dimensional ratios, etc.
All images collected may be easily analyzed using the
system Laptop just in the maintenance vehicle or more
comfortably in AGL maintenance office.
A complete automatic reporting is provided by SMF/SIGN
to be saved or printed at the end of image analysis
processing.
DATABASE
The system database has the capacity to
store all the data relevant to
measurements performed during the
instrument lifetime.
The database stores information of
Countries, Airports, SIGN brands and
models, measurement results, graphics,
pictures and statistical data.
REPORTI NG
• False color image of the Sign luminance,
with a resolution of 1 mm
• Color map image of ICAO admitted
colors (white, red, yellow, black, green,
blue, orange, yellowish-green), with 1
mm resolution
• Average Luminance for each Sign color,
calculated both over the standard ICAO
grid and on each pixel of the instrument
camera
• Chromaticity for each color, on the grid
and on each image pixel (CIE x, y)
• Luminance Ratio between adjacent
points on the grid for each color.
• Luminance Ratio between maximum and
minimum values points on the grid for
each color.
• Luminance Ratio of red color to the white.
• Dimensional Ratio of characters fonts to
the Sign.
• Automatic localization of the ICAO grid,
for both background and characters
