District Cooling System for Aga Khan University, Karachi

The Aga Khan Universityspread over 84 acres isPakistan's leading Healthcare facility and MedicalUniversity. Built in 1984 theUniversity did not haveadequate provisions for theaddition of large numbers ofNew Buildings on Campus.In the next ten years theadditional buildings are likelyto exceed 1,000,000 square

feet of Constructed Area.

SMC were commissioned to review and plan for future expansion of the Campus. SMC has designed Pakistan'sfirst district cooling system using direct burial factory insulated ABS piping with take off stations for future buildings.At the head end the Central Plant has been hydraulically decoupled and provisions made for modular increase inplant capacity from the existing 2700 TR to 9600 TR by 2009 by the addition of New Chiller Plant, condensor waterand Cooling Tower systems. SMC is also providing services for establishing capacity enhancements in respect ofother MEP Services.
