APPLICATION METHODOLOGY

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

In general, the substrate must be dry (moisture content <4%), clean, free of grease, loose particles, dust etc. Any existing cavities in concrete should be filled with the Asian Paints SmartCare Repair Mortar in advance. Intense wide cracks on the substrate must be filled with the Asian Paints SmartCare Hybrid PU sealants.

For Concrete, Bituminous & Porous substrate Concrete, bituminous membranes or old waterproofing layers and other porous surfaces should be primed with SmartCare Epoxy Primer at a consumption of80 - 90 g/m2.

APPLICATION

Mixing of the two components:Smart Care PU Magnum 2 component) Part - A (base) andPart - B (hardener) are packed in two separate containers, having the correct predetermined mixing ratio by weight. Stir individual container separately, Part - A and Part - B very well, to get homogeneous material. The whole quantity of Part - B is added into Part - A. The two components should be mixed for about 2-3 minutes with a low-speed mixer (300 rpm), until the mixture becomes uniform. It is important to stir the mixture thoroughly near the sides and bottom of the container,to achieve uniform dispersion of the hardener.

APPLICATION CONSUMPTION

Over primed surface, apply mixed material with brush / roller at the rate of 500 - 700gms/ sqft.

Apply 2nd coat perpendicular to first coat, after 4 hrs interval.

HORIZONTAL SURFACE

Prepare the surface by cleaning with a high pressure water jet/wire brush and ensure that it is free of dust, oil, grease, grime and loose particles etc. In the existing terraces, the substrate must be checked for its soundness, damaged portions & hollow areas must be repaired with Polymer modified mortar. Small cracks 3mm or less should be open out, cleaned & filled with AP smart care Crack Seal & wider cracks should be filled with Polymer modified mortar. All corners and joints of drain pipes, channels etc. must be treated with polymer modified mortar prior to coating application. Ensure that the coating is applied at least 6 inch inside the drain pipe.Horizontal Slab area: Apply self-priming coat (diluted with water in 3:1 ratio by volume). Allow to dry for at least 3-4 hrs prior to

On vertical surfaces, Damp Proof Ultra is to be applied followed by top coat application in the manner detailed below:
