GSMA Is Launching Smart Cities Index 2014 The association of world’s mobile operators and the University of Sheffield are improving the smart cities indicators system, designed to demonstrate the value of using mobile technologies for urban infrastructures and services, and to measure the impact of smart city projects on municipal operations, the economy and communities. An interactive, on-line map visualizes the application of the smart cities index to some cities (Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Dubai, Helsinki, Hong Kong, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Shanghai, and Singapore). The common set of indicators deals with four areas: services, business and economic impact, citizens an infrastructures.
