Making Content “Smarter”Semantic Tagging

• Semantics: the science of extracting meaning from language• Tools we can use right now

– MarkLogic entity extraction: their standard tool – which AIP purchased – is from BASIS. Other extraction tools compatible with MarkLogic include• Access Innovations’ Data Harmony™*• Semantex™ by Janya• Luxid® from Temis

– More than 250 other tools– But it is still early days and the tools need seasoning

• The Semantic Web (Tim Berners-Lee; a.k.a. Web 3.0) will require AIP to have an ontology (a formal representation of a set of concepts within a domain and the relationships between those concepts)– AIP is purchasing a tool to eventually turn PACS into an ontology

• Access Innovations’ Thesaurus Master™*
