WELCOME We have now been in the new premises for
around 18 months; we have a lovely new
kitchen (see below) creatively produced by
a great bunch of volunteers and some
brusho…. This allows us to cook with the
groups and they have been making some
very tasty snacks and meals.
There is still a long way to go - the roof yet
to be made watertight and the garden is on
a hiatus until our lovely volunteer Pete is
able to come in again, but its working well
overall and it is being well used by funded
projects and volunteer led activities alike.
We’re also able to provide a rehearsal space
for young people who were on the music
project as well as continuing the lessons
until the summer. All in all a good year,
we’ve survived in a time when we have lost
so many services - all the more reason to
keep going. A massive thank you to all the
people who keep us going; staff, volunteers,
committee members, funders and most of
all the wonderful young people we meet
who attend Small World, after all, this is
for you.

MUSIC
Funded by Youth Music for a total of three
years, this fantastic project gave young peo-
ple the opportunity to learn instruments,
perform on a stage and form bands and en-
sembles. The team are currently working
with SELFA to develop musical skills for
young people in the rural areas around Skip-
ton as well as providing lessons at Small
World

THE NEW KITCHEN
Utilising industrial materials the new kitch-
en is strong, safe and colourful. No chemi-
cal laded materials, no chipboard, mdf or
other...just steel and ash. Open plan shelv-
ing and good quality storage with re-
claimed school boxes for additional equip-
ment. We have a great induction cooker
and a panini grill for snacks. A great space
much loved by the young people.

PLANET DRAMA
MOVING ON
This 12 month project focussed around dra-
ma and performance skills; it has now been
developed into a Creative Media Club with
a strong social aspect and we aim to secure
further funding to support it.
This pilot project ran for 12 months
to support 17+ with a range of
needs from housing to education to
family mediation to social enter-
prise.
