Small Group Questions November 4, 2018 Series: Stranger Things Message: “Daylight Savings” This series will examine several of the odd stories found in the Bible. When we read these accounts, we may wonder, “what was that?” and “what does that have to do with me?” The unusual and miraculous presents a barrier for those outside of faith and raises many questions for those inside of faith in the Jesus of the Bible. We hold a high view of the Bible, believing it is God’s inspired, error-free and living word to us. So, we will dive into some challenging passages to see not only what happened so long ago but how those stories relate to us in our day. During this section of the calendar, we see a higher number of guests join us on Sundays. We believe that increase can also become a reality in our small groups. Our mission is: helping people meet and follow Jesus. That mission can be fulfilled in any aspect of our faith and life, including our small groups. This could be a great time to encourage the group to invite guests into a series that may prove to be intriguing to those curious about faith. Thank you for serving in your leadership and shepherding role in a small group! You are on the leading edge of the mission. (Questions to get everyone to participate) 1. If you could save one day of your life and live it over and over, which day would you choose and why? 2. If you had a 30 hour day at your disposal tomorrow, how would you spend it? (Questions based on the primary text) Read Joshua 10:7-14. 3. Imagine you are a reporter for the Jerusalem Journal and you are tasked to write a headline for this event. How does your headline read? 4. What would give Joshua confidence for that day of battle? What implications does that have for people like us living here and now who face a “battle” of some kind? 5. Who was actually responsible for Israel’s victory that day? Why is that important in the story? 6. Where in your life do you need the sun to stand still (you need more time)? 7. Why do our prayers often shrink or dry up altogether when it comes to the big challenges we face? 8. What area of your life is a place for you to pray a bold prayer based on a promise from God?
