Small Bridge Program FAQ

Course DescriptionMassDOT has established a Municipal Small Bridge Program to provide financial support to cities and towns for replacement, preservation and rehabilitation projects on small bridges known as BRI’s. This workshop will provide an opportunity to obtain information about the program, including the application and reimbursement process, program requirements and schedule, guidance on the MassDOT program review and design review process and a review of Frequently Asked Questions.

Who Should AttendThis course is appropriate for planners, engineers, and public officials responsible for planning, design, maintenance or replacement of municipally owned small bridges.

InstructorsThomas P. Donald, P.E, MassDOTTom is the Director of Bridge Project Management for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highway Division. He manages a staff of over 35 project managers and bridge engineers responsible for managing the designs and performing the technical reviews of all bridge projects designed for the MassDOT Highway Division.

Alexander K. Bardow, P.E.Alex is the State Bridge Engineer for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highway Division. In this position, he oversees the Technical Services Unit of the Bridge Section, which includes the In-house Bridge Design, Bridge Inspection, Ratings and Overloads, Metals Control, Geotechnical and Hydraulic Units.
