Sandon, in the the age of railroads and horseflesh:There was tremendous rivalry between the K&S and CPR railroads. But as it turned out they were both soon working to capacity servicing the new mines as Sandon grew at a furious pace.

Slocan City Boom:The CPR started extending the

Columbia and Kootenay Railway up the Slocan Valley in 1897. By 1900

there were 12 hotels and in 1901 Slocan became a city,

now it’s a village again.
