SEATTLE STARTS HERE

SPACE NEEDLE

Page 14: Slide deck

A way to let new visitors have a rich experience through the means of technology. To do this we proposed creating a mobile application that would -

1. Show the visitor interesting things while on top of the “O Deck”2. Make the visitor interested and/or learn about the Seattle Center and the Space Needle while they wait to go up3. Provide the user suggestions on what to do while in Seattle

Based on the above criteria I created the below persona to refer when creating the mobile application. The main interests of the users of this app would fit the following description

1. Adult (28-45) with children visiting from outside the state2. Staying 2 days before embarking or returning from an Alaskan Cruise3. Middle Class income with vacation money to spend

PERSONA

Peter and his family are in Seattle for 2 days and will be embarking on an Alaskan cruise soon. They are a middle class family and have planned the trip to Seattle. They are at the Space Needle and have a long wait before they can go up to the Observation Deck or the Sky City Restaurant.

They have very impatient kids and want to give some way to keep them entertained while waiting to go up. Peter always tries to look for any kinds of deals so he can pay less.

The family is also interested in knowing more about the Space Needle and places around it.

USABILITY TESTINGISSUES FOUND

Home Page

1. The How-To screen left the user lost when it went away. There was no way to get it back up without restarting the app

O-Deck

2. Without existence of an image of the panorama or map, it made it difficult for the user to understand what the wireframe wanted to convey.

3. 2 out of 3 subjects expected some sort of zoom in zoom out functionality on the map

Space Needle / Seattle Center

4. Gave basic information about the space needle but was missing some elements that users would want. For example: a link to make hotel reservations.5. It was difficult finding the Contact us page as there were no icons that depicted this.

Places to Visit

6. Users found it difficult to understand what FAV was for, would expect a Star or Heart to indicate that it was to add to favorites.
