These criteria are not all evidence based but were developed using the consensus of an expert working group – the Intercollegiate Stroke Working Party:

• Continuous physiological monitoring (ECG, oximetry, blood pressure)

• Access to scanning within 3 hours of admission

• Direct admission from A&E/front door• Specialist ward rounds at least 5 times a

week• Acute stroke protocols/guidelines
