    JOB DESCRIPTION

    POSITION TITLE: Graduate Assistant for Student Life: Student Leadership Institute

    UNPAID ASSIGNMENT: 10-20 hours a week, August 26, 2013 to June 20, 2014

    GENERAL STATEMENT: Under general supervision of the Student Life Coordinator and theAssociate Dean of Student Life, the graduate assistant works in the areas of student

    engagement, learning outcomes, programmatic assessment and evaluation, and leadership

    education. S/he will provide support and supervision of student leaders. Graduate Assistant

    will coordinate a series of leadership workshops, working with faculty to obtain speakers and

    outreach to students. Graduate Assistant will advise student leaders in academic, personal, and

    career.

    The graduate positions play an integral part in providing a comprehensive Outside of the

    Classroom curriculum. It is also intended to provide a professional entry-level preparatory

    experience with direct supervision by the Student Life Coordinator and the Associate Dean of

    Student Life.GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Assists the supervision of student staff members Provides on-site event supervision when required Supports and assists mentors through program advisement and training Manages day to day operations including: budget management, promotion/marketing,

    assessment, staff supervision, and contract negotiation for entertainment and services

    Establishes and facilitates workshops and trainings for student workers and mentors Responsible for thorough knowledge of state, college, and departmental policies and

    regulations regarding public events, purchasing, building operation, safety, and contract

    negotiation Develops communication with campus community to facilitate coordination of programs Assists with Student Life educational programming, in particular, assist in the coordination

    of the Peer2Peer Mentor Program

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    Establishes, coordinates, and facilitates student leadership workshops and trainings forclubs/organizations and student workers

    The Student Leadership and Development Programs are dedicated to providing opportunities

    for students to enhance their overall personal and leadership development. We are committed

    to supporting and preparing LACC students development through trainings, workshops, and

    access to resources. We are dedicated to meeting each individual students needs so they are

    equipped with skills that can be transferrable in their personal, academic, and professional

    lives.
