Summer Day and Evening camping is a great way to introduce girls to the out of doors and celebrate century old Girl Scout traditions. Our Council offers over thirty different Summer Day and Evening programs in a variety of settings situated throughout the greater Washington Region. From the Catoctin mountains to Mineral, West Virginia, to the coastline of the Chesapeake and the shores of the Potomac, you are sure to find a camp that’s right for your daughter. Each camp is unique in its program, but regardless which camp you select, you can expect your daughter to come home happy, singing and brimming with stories. Staples of our Day and Evening camps include songs, games, arts & crafts, outdoor skills and, of course, badges. Through robust and girl-centered programming, each camp encourages girls to expand their horizons and feel comfortable being their awesome selves. Many of these full and partial day programs will introduce your young Girl Scout to High Adventure, team-building and aquatic activities. Some camps offer optional overnights and field trips. For specifics on programming, check out: www.gscnc.org/camping/SDEP.html Summer Day and Evening programs are open to girls Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Campers must register for the grade they are currently in (2014-2015 school year). See the chart on the following pages for specific grade requirements for each camp. For older girls, many camps offer Aides in Training (AIT) and/or Aides programs. These programs give middle and high school girls the opportunity to learn valuable leadership skills as well as earn Council hours towards Girl Scout high awards. Check out the camp chart on the following page for AIT and Aide requirements. With all these options, it’s hard to choose! No matter what camp you select, your camper will undoubtedly have the best summer ever!
